Nothing much new to say about this Toyoko Inn: it is typical of its type. Good value, conveniently located (go out west side of station and turn left: the hotel is the tower block in front of you). Our room was big enough (double, non-smoking), with a view of a huge wall opposite. They need to change the welcome coffee machine for one that grinds beans (like the one in Matsumoto). Breakfast better than usual, including scrambled eggs and sausage in addition to the usual rice triangles, pickles and miso soup (no fruit juice though). Good value beer from the vending machine. As you can see, I have stayed in quite a few Toyoko Inns and so notice the petty details. In Japan we either Go Toyoto, which is one of the best business-style chains for the price, or pay much more and lodge in a ryokan for the Japanese Experience. To find a place to eat in Miyazaki, turn left out of the hotel, left again, and walk west into town along a long, semi-pedestrianised street lined with possibilities. At the very end is a covered arcade. We recommend visiting Aoshima, 30 mins south by train.
