Hotel New Otani is situated about 10-15 min walk from Tenjin, the centre of Fukuoka, and 5-10min bus ride from the train station. There's an underground station next to the hotel. You could take one to Tenjin, but it's only a station away and a bit of waste of money. Furthermore, you'll have to change to go elsewhere.
Although it's not in the most convenient location, something else makes up for it - their breakfast ! They provide great variety of both western and Japanese breakfast. Try their pastries, you wouldn't believe they wouldn't charge you for them.
The room wasn't very spacious, but nice comfortable bed to have a good night sleep.
