Probably my favorite Hakone hotel thus far. Staff is quick and courteous. Do ride the local train in if you have a chance. Best is during the day as the scenery is wonderful. Local Train station is nearby hotel. A little to hilly and far to walk, but some do. Via taxi is only about $10. The only drawback is that this hotel does not have free shuttle bus to and from the hotel to the nearby station. If they had that, they would be awesome.
Bus stops are located conveniently nearby the hotel, and staff gives good directions to destinations.
Rooms could use a little updating, a little on the small side (they do have suites), but most if not all have a very nice view of the gardens.
Breakfast and Dinner buffets are optional, but wonderful. Nice selection of western and Japanese foods. Dining experience (view) from Main Dining rooms is fabulous.
Onsen baths are wonderful. Try their different soaps, and shampoos, facial soaps and creams. There is an indoor, outdoor bath and a sauna for each sex. My husband and I go to the baths at the same time and since they have clocks in the baths, we both agree to meet about an hour later at a small refreshment waiting area.
This hotel does not have laundry or dry cleaning service. Yukata wear is not allowed in restaurants. Restaurants are all non-smoking which is nice. They do have a pool, but I have never used it in the autumn.
A convenience store next to the hotel (IFamily Mart) is a great stop for snacks.
Overall very peaceful location. My goal is to be able to work hard, and earn enough money to stay here for a week.
