My partner and I had previously stayed at Mito Plaza Hotel in April and loved it so much we stayed again during our recent visit to Japan for the Moto GP.
The hotel is about a 10 minute drive from Mito Station, made easy by the helpful staff in the Toyota Car Hire who programmed our GPS to direct us to our destination. Upon our arrival at dusk, the driveway is lit with lovely fairy lights guiding your way to the front entry. As I find most of our lodgings in Japan, the service is fantastic and friendly, despite the English being limited - we were promptly checked in and escorted to our room.
The rooms are spacious and comfortable, the bathrooms large and clean. The restaurants within the complex are delicious, perhaps a little on the expensive side, but that's normal for a hotel restaurant. 'Cocktail hour' in the relaxation lounge is a nice way to chill out at the end of your day. As mentioned, we stayed here for the MotoGP which took place at Motegi and our GPS led us on an easy drive to the track, approx 45 minutes away.
The hotels one downfall is the limited access to Modem's for internet use. They only have 20 available in the hotel and use is first come first served. As they were all being used for the first 2 days of our stay, we could only get access on the last day, once we managed to get hold of a Modem.
I'd definitely stay here again and would certainly recommend it to anyone who might be visiting the area.
