The hotel is one of a cluster of APAs within central Kanazawa, and is very well located for all the sights - you're easy walking distance from the shops and restaurants, the samurai and geisha districts, the river, the 'ninja temple', taxis and the circular bus route. It's a slightly longer walk to Kenroku-en, or you can take the bus.
The hotel is an unprepossessing building, but has all the necessary comforts - albeit with very small rooms and the usual bathrooms. This was the second APA on our trip, and we've concluded that they don't have the brightest rooms, but they do have all you need. And the origami birds are always a welcoming gesture. Breakfast was in an 'international' coffee shop downstairs, and was a little limited, but still sufficient to set you up for the day. There's wifi in the seating area just beyond reception, which is handy.
It's definitely worth a short trip out of the town to the top of the hill in Utatsuyama Park (to the north), for views of the city, the surrounding mountains, and the Sea of Japan (bus or taxi recommended for the upward trip, and then it's a pleasant walk back down the hill).
