We visited Skanes beach for Xmas and New year, we really liked it. The hotel it's true is a little worn around the edges but is clean and well appointed.
The food was really good with lots of choice, if you expect standard english fare then you will be disappointed but what's the point of going to another country is your not willing to try the food. Don't get me wrong even a fussy eater could find something they like in the buffet, lots of freshly cooked food , even chips, pizza and pasta with good quality fruit and veg. The drinks are ok too, the all inlcusive wine and beer are completely fine.
The location of the hotel is directly on the beach and not located next to shops etc. The taxi's however are really cheap. It was nice to be located away from the town as the negative of being asked constantly to buy things can be a little wearing, the people are very friendly and accept refusal with grace.
We found this hotel to have a very relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The Hotel Spa was also very good., the Hotel staff work very hard.
I would pay the supplement for sea view as the hotel forms an X shape so you could be looking in land, our view was lovely.
I think you get out of a holiday what you put in and we had great fun. I would also say a lot of other guests enjoyed there stay too as there were lots of comment of regret on departure.
If you decide to go if you don't pick about every little fault and relax, you are very likely to have a great time. Having stayed at a few 4 and 5 star hotels this one isn't at all pretentious and for the cost of the holiday what do people expect!

We went to this el mouradi group hotel after being double booked at our original hotel.We had an awful holiday and all of us(a family of 5) couldn't wait to get on that plane and go home. The food was awful-undercooked meat.Our daughter ended up being really ill.Most of the staff were very rude and physical - especially waiters who just pushed us out of the way, resulting in our teenage daughter getting burned.We soon realised that it was because we were british that we were constantly ignored and pushed around. It wasn't just us but other brits - of which there were very few.The rooms were cleaned well for the first few days and then this stopped and we found that we had to ask and search for toilet rolls and towels and had to make beds again as they weren't made properly. A dead cockroach remained on our floor for a week before it was cleaned away ! The atmosphere was awful, the activity pool was full to bursting, you couldn't get a sunbed as the so familiar towels were in place-the towels were even put out to reserve seats at the evening entertainment! This entertainment was great for children but for adults it wasn't that good.Some of the staff were good but they were in a minority.On a good note the weather was fantastic. This is 3rd time we have been to Tunisia(the other 2 visits were brilliant and at different hotels) and it will be our last. Never again! we don't pay over £4,000 to be so blantantly mistreated.

We stayed in skanes beach for a week and can come back with very little positives, The food was shocking some of the strangest combinations of items i've ever seen.
cold pizza and uncooked chips.

The staff were always friendly and helpful as much as they could be with the language barrier.

at the time we were there the hotel was full of germans and spanish teenagers lots of them!!.

the animacion team did some activities in the day including archery boules and darts, the evening entertainment left a lot to be desired there was one show a night usually explained in three different languages or more.. these were usually finished by 11 and left with very little else to do in the evenings there was no English tv in the hotel at all even in the rooms.

the outdoor areas of the hotel needed lots of work doing and could have been and probably was 10 years ago a very nice hotel. i dont think the hotel warrents its 4 star rating anymore its definatly no more than a low 3 star.

I wouldnt go to tunisia again and i would definatly not take any children there due to the fact they would be a complete nightmare from the lack of anything to do.

there was one bar about 300yds down the road from the hotel called the safari club/bar which is set in a little complex which has a small cafe/ restaraunt and a shop this pub plays all the english football/ sports but beer prices are dearer there about 5 DT a pint (£2) but else where expect to pay from 2DT to 4DT a bottle of beer slightly more for draft beers

PS. if you do go be wary of the Taxi drivers and porters at the airport just out to take your money ended up paying £10 for a journey that should have cost no more than £3 .

Returned from this holiday on 9th April 2006 and can't wait to go again. If you want a crazy wild holiday then its not for you but if its relaxation your after then this is the place to go. Food was ok if you like something different, staff were incredibly nice and welcoming. Weather was amazing and the beach is fantastic. I would definatly go back again. We went to 4 different hotels and this one was the nicest by far.
