We have just returned from an unfortunately rainy week at the above mentioned hotel,it was allocation on arrival with Panorama. Can't complain about the room as it was very spacious and clean with maid service every day, however the in-room entertainment for English speaking guests is restricted to a rather snowy BBC WORLD news channel (24hrs). The hotel is situated on a road in the middle of nowhere across from a noisy building site with a daily wake up call from 7:30am onwards. It has its own private beach which was nice apart from the howling gales and local tat sellers after "small monies". We were all inclusive and could not fault the food (hope you like courgettes). Drinks are served from 10:00 till 12:00am, not a particularly wide range of alcoholic drinks but are enough to numb the pain of the boredom and sheer crapness of the in-house entertainment (these people work v hard but it's simply pap!) We found that the bar staff were very abrupt especially towards the female guests. The MY TRAVEL rep was extremely helpful and approachable, i'd recommend going on a few of their excursions just to get out of the hotel! the reps cabaret night in Sousse was very enjoyable. Apparently 1 Dinar is a really good tip which we found out after leaving so don't get carried away.

As a result of an "administration error" we ended up staying at the Skanes Beach hotel. The good point -location to beach and pool. Bad pointS - hotel is looking very dated, shabby and worn. Location - Very isolated (excluding the powerstation 1 mile up the beach). No shops or facilities anywhere near the hotel. Cheese on a stick nightclub (like visiting the bar in star wars where assorted weirdo's hang out). Local Skanes mytravel rep - a cross between vicky pollard and a ---- rottweiller, kept droaning out lines such as "every holes a goal" and "phoar, local men in their tight shorts well worth one" during welcome meeting in the company of middle aged/family orientated couples became very tedious.
The only good thing about my stay was that it was short lived as I transferred to Hammamet ysamine the next day. One thing to note is that the weather in March can be quite cold and windy.

Me and my partner stayed at the Skanes Beach Resort in June 2004 - Do not stay at this hotel unless you like eating the same boring food every day and like doing nothing!!! The activities at this resort are rubbish and the entertainment staff are not very entertaining. In fairness though, the pool was good and the hotel and rooms were very clean. This hotel is classed as a 4 star - i would class it as a 2 star as it is very basic.

There are no shops or bars within 5km so if you want to go out you need to catch a bus or taxi, which can work out very expensive if you don't like to stay in your hotel all the time. The disco that the hotel put on is the cheesiest thing in the world.

I would recommend staying somewhere closer to the town, Sousse or Port el Kantoui, or better still, stay at home!!!!

Stayed at this hotel in May 2005 with First Choice. I have to say before we went we read early reports and nearly cancelled.. But found this hotel is realy good in every way. Nice rooms plenty of towels changed daily. Great food buffet style with lots of choice and it was hot. The hotel is situated right on the beach and the hotel has two large outdoor pools and a smaller indoor pool with a health centre and gym at reasonable prices. Lots of helpful staff about. Activies programme during the day, some evening entertainment shops nearby though except the small hotel shop's, The Gold & Silver Shop was very good, ask for the owner, he will make up rings etc to your requirements, had a ring made up and checked back in UK, Very good price. And qty. Again I have to say that the staff were very helpful and if you treat them how you would like to be treated, i.e. Smile, please & Thank you, etc, and you will have no problems. Will go again next year, around the end of Sept.
