Unlike many reviewers that stayed in the inexpensive Bamboo huts, we had two cottages together with a connecting door. So we didn't have to have mosquito netting nor a problem with other animals. The cottages were relatively clean and air conditioning as well as a refrigerator was provided. The location is good as on main beach on Koh Mook. There are several restaurants beside and behind the resort.
Overall, I found this resort poor in quality for what I paid. The island is ok but a bit rough, I do recommend a trip to the fishing village on the other side. There are some good restaurants around the resort.
Pros:
- People at desk were pleasant upon arrival
- The breakfast buffet is quite good with plenty to choose from
- the beach is nice and water ok although it can have some broken glass.
- you can sign out beach towels by the pool and use them everywhere
- there is a convenience store just behind the resort that has good prices on some basics
Cons:
- Showers were cold most of the time except around 4 pm. Why? no idea
- The paths connecting everything are trenches of soft sand that go right up to your bungalow. When it rains, not fun
- the toilets stink both in the room and out. The septic system seems to be right around the cottages. Toilets often clog and for no apparent reason.
- Staff is somewhat disorganized and can be rude, my son asked a question at the front desk and they made fun on him.
- Beds are terrible. After travelling for some weeks in Thailand, we expect hard beds but these were ridiculously bad. I had to fold up a towl to put my hip on when sleeping otherwise I would wake up in pain every hour
- Pool is pretty filthy, wouldn't let my kids swim in there.
- Charging for beach chairs? Come on, but a friend who stayed there for years tells me to say no as it is simply an enterprising staff member and not official policy.
- restaurant food is terrible and expensive, we ate lunch there once and never did again.
- only internet is thru three computers by desk and you pay by the minute.
- my wife tried to book a massage at the spa and that was so disorganized, she gave up.
I won't be staying here again and would recommend you stay elsewhere on the island or at nearby Koh Ngai island and either Coco Cottages or Fantasy Resort.
