“An amazing tropical getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 February 2012

This was my first time to stay at the Pavilions, but it was my boyfriend’s second time. We chose to stay in an Ocean View Pool Villa. We were in Villa 20 and it had excellent views of the Andaman Sea and having a private pool was truly amazing. You could go swimming with or without your bathing suit and could step into the pool directly from the sliding doors of your bedroom.
The quantity and quality of food at the resort is outstanding. You could either have breakfast served Continental style in your room, or you could eat at the Restaurant where they had buffet style breads and fruits and a menu to order proteins and pastries from. You can choose to have lunch in your villa or at the Restaurant. Dinner can be served at the Restaurant, in your private villa, or at the 360 Bar which feels like your in a tree house above the resort.
In phase two of the resort, they have recently built a large pool with another bar/restaurant, though we did not use these facilities. The pool had lounge chairs and there was a bamboo walking bridge that took you to an additional lounge chair area.
One neat feature in the second phase area was a funicular that could take you between the various levels since the rooms in this area are built on the hillside.
The staff at the resort is extremely friendly and wants your experience to be one you will remember. A nice touch is personal meetings with the General Manager (JC) or the Assistant Manager (Linda) who only want your time at The Pavilions to be everything and more that you expect it to be.
Although it is a bit pricey, the splurge is well worth it. You will remember your stay at The Pavilions and will not be able to wait until your return.

Room Tip: The Spa Pool Pavilion & Penthouse rooms are from phase 2 of the resort and are therefore newer.

“Fabulous way to recharge your batteries”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 February 2012

Stayed here for 15 days in Jan/Feb this year. Not knowing what to expect we were extremely pleased with our accommodation. We actually swapped from an Ocean View to a Spa Pool Villa as when we arrived there were some insects trying to share the villa with us (happens once each year apparently and they disappear in a couple of days). We were very pleased with our spa villa and the total privacy of the pool and terrace. We hardly ventured out other than to go shopping a couple of times and a tour with our limo and driver. Very knowledgeable, very helpful and the best way to see the sights. I can honestly say the room service is absolutely excellent, food delivered to your villa within 30 mins of ordering and set out for you wherever you want to eat. Another phone call and they come back to collect the empty dishes - why would you want to go out!!

Standard of cleanliness - excellent
standard of service - excellent

Would love to mention individual members of staff who gave good service but every member of staff gave excellent service with a very friendly approach.

Definately going again.

Room Tip: Spa villa very good and try a Thai massage in your own spa room

“Lovely stay”

My husband and I stayed here for a week at the end of Jan. We ended up booking an ocean view pool villa as we wanted to have the view and were very pleased we did - while the villa was perhaps not as modern as the plantation ones, it was still beautifully done up and more than big enough for two people, with a ridiculously large pool you could do laps in ! But the best bit was being able to watch amazing sunsets each night from the privacy of your own villa terrace. You could go up to the 360 bar but we found it was quite busy and preferred to have drinks and snacks delivered to our villa to have our own private cocktail sunset experience !

The food was superb - we ate at both the Aman and the Trisarsa whilst there and have to say that The Pavilions was in the same league quality wise but at a (slightly) more affordable level.

The service was interesting - some of the staff went out of their way to try and help and really did exceed our expectations whilst others unfortunately were not so good and let things slip. There were a few incidents which could have turned our holiday into a one out of five star experience but I have to point out that the exceptional service and skilled management by JC meant that this was turned around and we instead walked away with a very positive view of the Pavilions.

My husband and I have been lucky enough to stay in some beautiful hotels that usually pride themselves on excellent management such as the Datai, the Aman hotels, the W hotels, Banyan Tree etc but none of them come even close to meeting the standard of GM we witnessed with JC. He is by far and away the best GM we have met and it is largely down to him that we will return to the Pavilions again.

Room Tip: book an ocean view room for the views and sunset - its worth it

“Fantastic Thai Experience”

The moment we arrived we knew that it was going to be a fantastic trip. The private shuttle was waiting for us at the airport and the friendly driver took us on the 20 minute drive to the resort. The property is not located on the beach, which is a bonus because it is very secluded and private. We saw and heard no one when we were in our villa. Our Ocean View Villa was as promised. The views were gorgeous and the accommodations were very nice. Everything was comfortable, clean and well maintained. We enjoyed a wonderful massage and then spent most of our time relaxing in the villa. The food was good and we especially liked the daily tea and snacks. I would recommend this for anyone looking for some serious R&R.

Room Tip: The Ocean View Villas are worth it to watch the sunset over the ocean every night.
