Patong is a slum. Dirty, sleazy and full of idiots. At times including me.

The Holiday Inn however is an oasis in the middle of all of that. This central location is therefore a good thing as it gives guests the option of quietly staying on-campus, for example around the pool or venturing outside for cheap eats, nightlife, fake bags, the ubiquitous masaaaaaage and related Thai what-have-you.

Many of the larger Phuket resorts are very isolated so for those who don't enjoy eating three meals a day at the resort or like to go out at night, the Holiday Inn provides options that don't require an expensive cab ride each way.

The staff were supremely friendly and the kids' club is wonderful. Although it is only open until 9pm and earlier on some days, babysitting services are inexpensive so it is very easy for parents with young children to still manage a grown-up holiday.

We have stayed in both the Busakorn wing (7 years ago) and Main wing (2014) and the reservations team were good at tailoring something for us which would suit. The cutely decorated kids' suites were an absolute hit with our young children. The enormous stuffed toys per-bed are a nice touch.

The pool was lovely. Typical hotel swimming pool dramas as you'd find anywhere (Germans reserving sun lounges at 4am and Arab families screaming at each other from one end of the pool to the other in between nearly drowning). No, this isn't racist, it's a very well-earned stereotype!

All such issues were capably managed by pool attendants. While the pool is large, the area is small enough that staff can manage it closely and drink-service is never too far away.

Pleasant to see few drunken tattooed bogan Aussies on this visit but I think we just missed the school holidays, so your bogan encounter may vary (although I'm reliably informed it's become significantly less of an issue with Jetstar flights to Bali being a few bucks cheaper).

Food was good and relatively good value for an international hotel. Breakfast buffet is plentiful and there is something there for everyone. See my review for Sam's Grill, the on-site steakhouse which remains one of the nicest restaurants at which we've ever eaten, anywhere in the World.

If this comes across as a glowing review, there's a reason. Family holidays can be hard work. The Holiday Inn made it easy, and I'd happily recommend them to anyone with or without kids. Congratulations to the management and staff of the Holiday Inn for allowing us a fantastic family holiday.

Room tip: If you have young kids, ask for a kids' room as these are specially decorated and include DVDs and video games to entertain them at night.

I've bee their in December , we took Standard Double or Twin Room with city view which was nice , clean and spacious .

The resort is centrally located ( 5 min walk to bangla street ) with 3 swimming pools plus one for children and one for toddlers.

No direct access to the beach ( separated by street ) .

I have stayed in this hotel several times for about ten years. I booked one more time there in November in a Busakorn villa as I always do. This time we have been very disapointed and did not find the hotel very classy. The customers are différents now and not very respectfull of others.
The first night people staying in another villa made noise until 3 in the morning and we could not sleep. At 2 in the morning we went out of our bedroom and went to inform the staff about the problem but the man could not make them stop making so much noise.
Another problem with people playing ball in the swimming pool and the staff did not care.
The breakfast used to be good several years ago but now the quality is terrible and there is only choice for indian or arabian because now there are many people coming from these countries.
We even saw arabian wearing niqab.
Not good occidental food. Very bad pastries, bad bread. Bad butter, terrible jam.
In the villas there is no privacy because there are villas just oposite and people can see in your room.
The staff clean the swimming pool until nine in the morning and you can not swim quietly
We will not come back to Holiday inn Patong. If you go back to Phuket we will choice another beach because Patong as a bad athmosphere and is not classy at all. I advise you Katha, Karon,
Surin.

We stayed in the holiday inn Phuket this December we where in the busakorn wing we where upgrade from the studios to the villas however the villas entail walking up and down a lot of stairs . The studio rooms are spacious and really great Mosquitos are a problem in the whole of Phuket . The villas are really not any different too the studios everything is more or less the same the only diffrents is bigger dressing table and mini bar is free. You also get excess to the private pool but for a family the main pool in the busakorn wing is where the action is . The staff are friendly and breakfast is fair . We didn't eat meat so i would suggest they add a vegetarian Conner . The new pool area is amazing. The hotels rates on tours are almost double of what u would pay if u just went outside and took a tuk tuk to the desired place. The area around holiday is great for shopping but be careful not the most kid friendly place. The free wifi is great. The beach is great not Crystal blue water but good for water sport. Don't worry about crossing the road Theres always a traffic officer that the hotel provides you to help. Overall it is a great hotel and location for shopping and water sports . If this is your aim this hotel is the one . If you are more the get away type and want to tan snorkel and swim i suggest else where as this location is more hustle and busy

we used up all our accumulated points for a great stay. Still offered a room in the Busakorn Wing as an upgrade. Couldn't speak highly enough of the staff and hotel. First time in Thailand and certainly not our last. If possible try the rooms furtherest from the main road as the late night tuk tuk's don't mind booming out the beats.

Room tip: High floors away from main road
