We stayed in the hotel in November 2009 twice for couple of days on our way to Koh Lanta and other islands on west coast. Hotel is new or just renovated though extremly clean. Nice big rooms with tv, fridge, aircondition. They even have mosquito nets if you prefer to sleep with open window. In this case take room facing the pool since morning traffic is not abundant but loud enough (old motorbikes) to wake you up. If you use air con and close windows than street room has no faults.
Hotel is positioned apx. 5km from popular Ao Nang beach. We found this distance to be a big plus since you can sleep for same price in more quiet environment. To Ao Nang you can easily take a bus or rent scooters at hotel for reasonable price as we did.
Food is good and resonably priced.
What makes this hotel the best choice in Krabi area is the personnel. Extremly nice always willing to help with any request you can make.

Stayed four nights from 23 to 27 Jan 2010. Booked a deluxe room
through asiarooms website at a rate of 1500 baht per night for double with breakfast.
Don't have a lot to add to previous reviews (good well managed hotel,
with comfortable rooms and good breakfast). Hotel was one of the
cleanest we stayed at during our two months in Thailand.
Note: pool is now open and it's great.
I would still stay there again as it's a great little hotel in Ao Nang/
Krabi area and very well managed by a friendly Thai family.

The Thip Family Residence Boutique Hotel (quite a handle) really is what it is presented as. The rroms are beautifuly designed and appointed as is the rest of the Hotel, lobby included. The swimming pool is a wonderful ammenity at the end of the day although 10 degrees cooler would have been nice. Together with attractively designed landscaping and landscape architecture this place is a tremendous value. On top of it all the restaurant serves excellent food especially the Tom Yum Koon (sp?) which is spicy and made with coconut milk...the best I've ever tasted. To top it all off al of the staff are helpful and friendly. For some the several KM distance to AoNang may be an issue, but after visiting there a couple of times it was breathtaking to return to such a peaceful, tranquil place of refuge. I really can't think of any negatives.

This is the perfect place for all.
We stayed our first five nights here and didn`t want to leave. The staff was really really nice and they adopted our youngest son right a way.
We stayed in one of Thips new Deluxe rooms and we couldn`t complain on anything.
5 min with a tuk tuk or the bus to "downtown" Ao Nang and 100 m to the pier were you coluld take a longtailboat to most of the islands.
There is no swimable waters outside the hotel. You could go to Ao Nang and stay on that beach, but the best thing is to take the boat for 10-20 min to the paradise islands like Poda, Ckicken, railey etc.
YOU HAVE TO STAY HERE!!!!!!!!!!!! But not when we come back. We want the place for our self:)
