“Nice but overpriced place”

All together you get what you expect when you book a sheraton, and basically everything is up to a 5* star level. 2 things still annoyed me during our stay: For basically everything you have to pay extra, even Internet. And the prices are also on a 5* level. This can be quite irritating, since the hotel is way more expensive compared to other hotels in the area, which include more services. It seems that you have to pay for the 'Sheraton' brand. Secondly, we had some problems staff. Even though most of the staff is really friendly, we had a particular incident with another couple we invited over from another hotel that got kicked out of the hotel, because they were no guests of the sheraton. The fact that they were actually yelled at and called stupid by the staff was really unprofessional and disappointing. That just must not happen in a 5* resort like that.

Hello 'robirob15'

Thank you for taking the time to share your important feedback. We are happy to know that you have enjoyed your stay with us. While internet in the room is available with a daily/weekly cost, internet (wifi) is free in the lobby, Martinis Bar and in the Link@Sheraton where we also have computer terminals with internet access. I would like to sincerely apologize for the unpleasant experience you had with your colleagues. Rest assured that the team has already been briefed to prevent such an incident from occurring again.

I thank you again for sharing your honest feedback with us and I hope we have the chance to welcome you back in the future.

Warm regards

“It doesn't get better than this”

This is a beautiful property with lovely vistas, comfortable, spacious rooms, a beautiful beach and two pools. But what makes visiting so special is the personalized attention to detail. Each staff department is professional and goes the extra mile. Housekeeping arranges towels on the bed in different designs (ie an elephant and a heart.) Activity staff come out to greet you to help you with towels instead of sitting behind a booth. I travel alone and there was always a staff person willing to play ping pong with me. Restaurant staff remember preferences and provide excellent service. And management cares and pays attention to everything. Krabi is much more "low key" than Phuket and worth visiting.

“Second visit - EVEN BETTER!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

I was back at the Sheraton Krabi for the second time in 2 years and i stayed 18 days this time. Time permitting, I could have easily stayed 18 more days. I learned a couple of key things during this second visit - 1) The Sheraton has by far the best beach front property in Krabi, specifically - other hotels like Sofitel and the Ritz Carlton have better manicured lawns and more expensively developed properties but they have to do this because they do not have the location and beach access that the Sheraton does; 2) The Sheraton's natural surroundings of green lawns, trees, and vegetation create an unrivaled atmosphere of peace and relaxation; and 3) The professionalism and friendliness the staff and management combined with their lack of "pushiness" makes for the perfect resort experience (Note: I have stayed at two Starwood hotels beach in Thailand where the management had a polite way of reminding you on a daily basis of how much money you were NOT spending at restaurants and events at their hotel on a daily basis). The restaurants serve excellent food. Some dish recommendations: Malati Indian – Chicken Malai Tikka with fresh nan; Malati Bar – Pina Colada and fruit shakes are outstanding; Mangosteen – Club Sandwich; Geckos – outstanding pizza). As far as value for money goes, the Sheraton Krabi is hard to beat. This is my favorite hotel in Asia and i will be back for many years to come.

“Enjoyed our Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

We enjoyed the property at this resort but our room was tired and we were not in a great location. We tried to move to a different room but they claimed nothing else was available. Since we spent little time in the room, it ultimately wasn't too much of an issue. One night however our air conditioning stopped working at 2am which meant we had to call down to get it repaired and resulted in us having a horrible night sleep just before we had to get up early for our excursion. They were not too responsive with an apology and no credit was applied to our room as it was prepaid. However, the Manager of Food and Beverage was outstanding and invited us to dinner on the beach when he heard about what happened. We enjoyed the breakfast each morning which was included in our package.
We loved walking the beach and had lunch almost everyday at the lovely restaurant just down the beach. The food was fabulous and we loved just being casual. We ate across the road at The Terrace a couple of times and each meal was outstanding. We also took the bus from the hotel into Ao Nang one night and had dinner there. While the town is touristy, it was fun to walk around.
We primarily picked this hotel for the beach and we weren't disappointed. We loved lying on the beds perched above the beach which gave us the best of all worlds.
Visited some of the other neighbouring hotels and were happy with our choice.

“Spacious lush resort with private beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

We stayed at the hotel for 4 days and 3 nights in January 2012. We were travelling with our 20 month old toddler. The room we had was the deluxe room located at Blk E on the second floor. Each block has 3 floors and Blk E was one of the nearest to the main lobby and Mangosteen (where breakfast is served daily). There was a total of 8 blocks (A-E), 4 blocks on each side of the hotel lobby.

1) Service
We arrived around noon and was warmly welcomed by the hotel car and the driver. The driver was friendly and warm and presented us with 2 bottles of chilled water upon arrival. It takes 45 minutes to arrive at the Sheraton.

The check in at the front desk service was average and nothing that left a deep impression except for the nice cold hand towels and chilled lemongrass tea that they had served. We had requested for a crib for our daughter but it was not in the room when we arrived. The front desk personnel had to call Housekeeping to send the crib which took about 10 minutes.

The service at Mangosteen, the cafe where we had our breakfast every morning can be slow when they are running full house which we experienced on Day 2. Service was slow and coffee never really came and we had to help ourselves to the coffee machine at the café entrance. But on a regular day, service was better and prompt.

On Day 3 during a very quiet lunch at Mangosteen, we found out that food for toddlers below 3 years old was free from the Kids Menu. This was very attractive however we realized it is not known by all service staff when we had dinner at Malati, their Indian restaurant. We were charged for the kid’s meal and the service staff later removed it after we highlighted it to her.

We had dined at Mangosteen, the Poolside, Malati and room service. We found the food quality at Malati as average and had expected more since it was the most expensive. The rest of the F&B outlets were pretty good. Food quality was consistent and if they are not too busy they can provide some customization to your dish upon request. Of course you can get cheaper food outside the hotel for half the price however we found the quality was mediocre.

2) Room
We stayed in a deluxe room and it had a nice king size bed, flat screen TV, DVD player, coffee/tea making facilities with coffee and tea bags and a day bed to laze on. They also provided a roll away crib for my daughter that met our needs and it included a small pillow and a blanket. Housekeeping service was prompt and replenished our bottled water twice a day. When they saw we had a toddler, they automatically increased the number of bottled water without us asking.

The room was spacious enough for our family and our needs. The bathroom had a bath tub and a vanity counter large enough for your needs. The only inconvenience we had was the shower head was not detachable which can be troublesome when bathing a toddler.

The balcony outside was quite lovely to sit and chill out while admiring the sea view and the large estate where the hotel is located in. The property is large enough even when it is running full house, you don’t feel it is crowded. There are lush greenery around and efforts are taken to ensure the landscaping was maintained. Each morning we are awoken by birds chirping outside our room.

3) Location
It is located in Klong Muang Beach and was within walking distance to mini-marts, massages and restaurants. So you can choose to eat out if you like. However if it rains which we experienced one of the evenings, it is best to stay in the hotel and dine in.

4) Liked Best
I liked the resort was very large and we had a choice of 2 swimming pools and a private beach that is quite well kept and you do not get approached by external vendors. It was convenient for us to step out to eat at other restaurants or get items from the mini marts if desired. The rooms were large and pleasant with the amenities you could need although it is starting to show some age especially in the bathroom. Service in general were good.

5) Liked Least
There isn’t anything negative about the resort and our experience. This is the second time we stayed here. The first visit was back in 2007. However we found that we had to pay for internet service which was a drag and when it gets disconnected a few times throughout the day it was very annoying.

For its location, amenities and service, I think it is a good resort for short term stay and would recommend it to family and friends. If they could offer free wifi throughout the hotel will be the icing on the cake.

Room Tip: If travelling with young children, ask for a block that is nearest to the main lobby otherwise you n...
