“Great location and service In hua hin”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

We stayed in this hotel for four nights in January. It is located right in the town centre and there are many good bars and restaurants within easy walking distance. We had a reservation for a club room and were checked in in the club lounge itself. As Hilton gold members we were delighted to be upgraded to lovely suite with a huge balcony overlooking the sea and pool area. The club lounge is well worth booking and it has a fabulous outdoor terrace on the 17th floor overlooking the town, pool and beach. The staff in this hotel are excellent and in particular the manager of the club lounge. The outside terrace was always popular with guests and when tables became full, she would always organise to bring extra tables and chairs outside to accommodate as many guests as possible. The only real problem we had with this hotel was that there were not enough pool beds for all the guests. A lot of the clientele were scandinavian and would be up at 6.30 am to reserve sun beds. Being Irish, this was not something we could see ourselves doing! The staff did their best to ensure that everyone was accommodated at the pool, with a rule in place that no towels could be placed on sun beds before 7am. They also tried to apply a policy of removing towels from those beds where people hadn't been present for two hours but in pracice this was unenforceable as people had personal items placed on beds to reserve them.
Whilst the town of Hua Hin was very nice, the beach is awful.

“Centrally Located”

Stayed at here for seven days just after New Year. We arrived at 1pm and were told that the only room available at that moment was on the 3rd floor. We asked whether it had a sea view and were told yes, "all rooms have the same view". On seeing the room, the balcony overlooked the Sofitel Centara Villas and with a stretch, we could just about see the sea. Needless to say, we didn't take this room.

Once down at the reception, they said that there were no other available rooms. We asked to speak to the manager, who after a bit of searching on the system, found two rooms overlooking the pool with a clear view of the sea. Not a great start.

The room was clean, with enough room to move about and settle in for the week. Two bottles of free drinking water a day are supplied and we also had a bowl of fresh fruit waiting for us in the evening.

Location wise, this hotel is right in the thick of it. Walk straight out onto the beach, which unfortunately isn't the cleanest beach nor the prettiest. Walk a few metres to the right and the local seafood cafes set up their chairs and tables right up to the water which in my view spoils the beach and makes it look like a total mess.

The pool and garden area is lit at night and is lovely to walk around in the evening. There is a beach bar and restaurant, the Market restaurant serves Italian food and there is a Brew House pub on the street front which serves up bbq food.

The World News Cafe just down the road from the Hilton is their outside cafe which serves OK coffee and is a nice place to just sit and watch the world go by.

There are plenty of touristy restaurants and cafes right outside the hotel. From a once sleepy town, Hua Hin has definitely changed, although I am not sure for the better.

We booked through Agoda.com and although we got a better rate than otherwise, we still found it relatively pricey for what it was. I've stayed in a lot better for less, but this is a big hotel chain, so I didn't expect any special touches.

Staff on the whole were professional and friendly. It's centrally located which is perfect for those who don't want to have to take a taxi or tuk tuk all the time.

Room Tip: Ask to be on a higher floor to get a better view and always ask to look at the rooms first before de...

Dear Valued Guest,

Thank you for writing this review - greatly appreciated.

Firstly, I am glad to read that you overall had an enjoyable stay with us despite a few negative experiences/memories.

As the beach is a public beach we do have little control over the management but we do make an effort to present our guests with a clean stretch infront of our garden by cleaning it twice daily.

Being a high rise building all rooms do have views over the Gulf of Siam and a private balcony, some obviously more than others depending on the location and floor - I am happy to read that eventually we did find a room that met your expectation in order to have a memorable holiday.

Please do come back in the future to once again enjoy our services and I am positive that the city of Hua Hin will make a continued effort to improve the beach situation.

Yours Sincerely,

Boris Blobel

“Disapointed!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

The hotel is old and in desperate need of renovation. It looks and feels boring and totally lacking in atmospere.Rooms are good size but the bedding is worse I ever had. Pillows are rock hard.
Swimming pool is cold, beach is dirty, very narrow and not attractive. So if you are a beach lover go to Phuket or Ko samui.
The only good thing about our stay in this hotel was New Year Eve dinner. I can say it was excellent!!!

Dear Valued Guest,

Thank you very much for taking your time to write this constructive feedback.

Whilst I am very glad to hear that you had a memorable New Year Eve celebration around our pool, I am very sorry to read that your overall stay was disappointing.

Being a 11 year old property I would personally say that the hotel is in an good condition (compared to many other properties with a similar age) and has a great "soul" with many offerings from restaurants, bars to entertainment to hopefully provide something for everybody.

However, we will certainly take your feedback in a very constructive way and ensure that we continue to improve our facility in order to exceed guest expectations. The beach being public is unfortunately out of our control, but I am pleased to inform you that we do internally clean the beach twice daily.

I do hope that you will give us another chance.

Yours Sincerely,

Boris Blobel

“Staff need training”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

This hotel is in a good location for the local shops and restaurants. As some have stated before, I don't think the staff are lazy but poorly trained - don't expect to be offered a drink if you sit by the pool, or in the lounge area. At breakfast you will be offered tea or coffee but not a fresh pot or more throughout breakfast (great choice of anything you could want). The main issue I had was finding a rat (not a squirrel) floating dead under the Christmas tree and the serious infestation they had with mosquitoes in the longe area-you were bitten alive whilst making use of the free Internet - this was however settled once I complained to the manager, although she blamed the infestation on the fact it was windy!? - I was given free internet access in my room. The hotel sadly let's itself down badly on service which is well below standard for a 5 star hotel

Dear Valued Guest,

Thank you for your constructive feedback.

I am very concerned to read about your overall experience during your stay and I am frankly surprised to hear about our lack of service attentiveness as we are usually praised for our "software", our team members. Rest assured that I will personally address this matter with the respective heads of department.

Being in a tropical climate mosquitos are part of the environment and we do try to control them by various methods, like "fogging" and placing mosquito machines throughout the hotel. In general, we do not receive many comments about this matter.

We do hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back again and to show you our true hospitality.

Yours Sincerely,

Boris Blobel

“Nice hotel, terrible beach”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

I spent in this hotel my Christmas holidays with my husband.
Hotel is the only one what I liked. After my second walk by resort I decided for stay just in hotel. Outside the hotel is very very bad smell - everywhere, mess, very young prostitutes on each your step. I had no courage to taste food on the street.
Anyway-hotel is good. Standard breakfast, executive with afternoon tea (sandwiches, sweetness...). We had halfboard so we can choose dinner in main restaurant or restaurant on the top of hotel "White lotus" - it was much better than main restaurant.
The "beach" is definitive worst I've ever seen!!!! (look at my fotos). I never go to the sea there. Colour of sea is grey or brown and cold. There are also horses on the beach(?) and many more.
The pool is good but also cold. Sunbeds at pool is BIG problem. Most of them are not on the sun but everybody wants to be on the sun, of course! So if you want use bed on the sun, you must spend there all day (mean from 7am). If you leave it and don't come back one hour later, staff take your bed, also with your personal things... While you leave it, staff make a note the time... So I felt like at cantonment. I get up very early (about 6,30), I go to Thailand because sun!!!!! When we'd lunch I still guarded my watch-we can't be there more than 1hour...
For me-last stay in this resort.

Dear Valued Guest,

Thank you very much for taking your time to write your review on our hotel.

I am glad to hear that you did enjoy the hotel and its services but regret to hear that you did not enjoy Hua Hin as a town and its public beach. Unfortunately, the public beach and Hua Hin are not within our control, but I am pleased to inform you that as a procative measure we internally clean our beach stretch twice daily.

As for the sunbeds, we are trying to ensure that every guest has an opportunity to enjoy the sun and therefore do need to enforce the policy throughout the day - we do hope for your understanding.

We hope that you will give our destination another chance as Hua Hin is constantly upgrading itself.

Yours Sincerely,

Boris Blobel
