“Fantastic stay in Chiang Rai!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

We would highly recommend The Legend if you want a relaxing and romantic stay in Chiang Rai. It is reasonably priced and a beautiful property. The rooms are quaint with a porch or balcony. The bathroom is very exotic! The morning buffet was lovely. It is a bit of a walk out of the actual downtown area but completely do-able if you enjoy walking. You may also have a few "extra" friends in the room with you (e.g., geckos, snails, etc.) but they are easily moved! :) Stay here if you want a relaxing and peaceful time.

Dear Guest,
Many thanks for staying with us and commenting on our Facilities and Service.
We appreciate very much your kind compliments and we hope it will animate other guests to travel this ways and stay with us.
Historical towns like Chiang Rai are never located on a river, but a few km away to prevent from flooding in former times. Since the Resort is directly on the River shore we are 2 km away from the City Center and we therefore provide a shuttle bus during the evening every 30 Minutes.
During the “Green Season” which is much more tropical due the common rains, the nature is much more active than in the dryer winter season. It is therefore quite common to have small lizards in the Studios (>>not Geckos). They usually are much afraid of human contacts and avoid it very much.
We hope you had a pleasant + successful stay in the rest of the Kingdom and hope to be able to welcome you back as well maybe Family and Friends in the Future.
Wishing you the very best and kind regards from your Legend Chiang Rai Team,
Marc Dumur

Dear Guest,
Many thanks for staying with us and commenting on our facilities and service.
Whilst you liked the setting of our Studios, you seem to be less approving our Angelini Mediterranean Restaurant & Bar. Our Italian Host Chef Mr. Luca Giorgi from Bologna usually receives many compliments for his cuisine; however that might not have been the case that night.
Therefore we thank for your comments which shall help us to improve this area. It is due to considerate guest as you good self we are to strive for better, as with out our job would be much more difficult.
We hope you had a pleasant journey on and back home and look forward to may welcome you, family and friends in the future.
With kind regards from the Legend Chiang Rai Team,

“Peaceful and well located”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

We enjoyed our thee days in the Legend. Nice feel about the place, decent breakfast, quiet restaurant which we didn't try as too much to do and too many places to visit in town which were also cheaper. Good clean room and nice sitting area outside. Did not appreciate outside shower too much on cold mornings (or evenings) - would have been better if the shower had been a bit stronger - as it was the shower was weak for a good class hotel.

Dear Guest,
Many thanks for staying with us and commenting on our facilities and service.
Whilst you seem to have liked the overall resort you would have preferred a more closed indoor shower room which is understandable during the colder days usually in December and January. Some of the Studios have this “semi out door” shower room and other have in-closed ones. Needles to say that during the rest of the year, when it is much warmer very often these “semi out door” shower rooms are much appreciated. We are also sorry for the water pressure, which seem to be not strong enough in your Studio and we shall make sure it is satisfactory in the future.

Your comments are very much welcome and taken seriously as is the only way we can improve our overall product due to such considerate guest as you good self.
We hope you had a pleasant journey back to your home and look forward to hopefully welcome you again or family and friends in the future.

With kind regards form now much warmer Chiang Rai

“Good hotel in a beautiful location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

Mid December I spent three nights at this hotel, I had chosen the standard room (double superior studio). I was attracted by this hotel by the beauty of its exterior aspect like the view on the Mae Kok river (we arrived by boat from Thaton directly at the pier of the hotel). When I discovered my bedroom, I was a bit disappointed because there was a slight smell of humidity and I didn't like the floor which seems dirty... It was a kind of a block cement. The furniture is basic but the terrace is very nice with a table and a wooden bench. As toiletries, you receive insect repellent (+ mosquito net in the bedroom), a soap, shower gel, shampoo, body lotion (only in this hotel during my all trip in Thailand), a sewing kit In the North of Thailand, it is "cold" ....I mean ... If you have your breakfast at 7:30 am, you have only 16 degrees at this time of the year (22-25° in the morning in the South of Thailand) and you need to eat in an open space. When we get up, the temperature is 18 degrees in our bedroom and the water of the swimming pool is 23 degrees with 21 chairs and 8 sunbeds with 2 tables in front of the river. At their restaurants, they prepare a lot of Italian food but also Thai food (a bit too spicy for me). If you want to use internet, you need to buy a card of 50 baths for 30 minutes, 100 baths for 70 minutes (that was the only hotel of this category which they asked me to pay for Internet). The night bazaar is 20 minutes walk (2 km) but you can take the shuttle bus of the hotel: you need to pay 50 baths/person/way. They rent bikes at the price of 50 baths/hour or 150 baths for 4 hours. Unfortunately, I had many problems to book my bedroom ... I sent three e-mails between 29th October and 8th November before getting a reply!!! You have a buffet for your breakfast (pineapple, orange juice, carrot or cucumber juice, pancake, waffle, eggs, yoghurt, six jams, bread and pastries, three creels, fresh fruit : passion fruit, pineapple, watermelon, cheese, muesli, fried flat rice noodle or fried rice with pork, chicken or beef with vegetable, pea nuts, cashew nuts, raisin. They welcome large group of people who come with a bus. I will recommend this hotel.

Dear Guest,
Many thanks for staying with us and for commenting on our Resort. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us so much and reading your rather detailed observation will certainly be helpful to many other travelers.
Your descriptions of the usual climate in the north during December and January is very correct. During the day the temperature is raising up to about 30C and in the night it falls down to about 15C. Since the Resort is situated directly on the wide open river bank, there is always a light breeze which is during the hotter temperature very welcome, however due to the humidity, it feels quite chilly during the “winter nights”. We therefore add windows (kind of windshields) as well as little fire oven pots under the tables in our Open-Air Restaurant which usually makes it quite pleasant.
Since we are Operating the Resort year around and the occupancy drops down to 30% during the low season, we are depending on some travel groups which usually range from 10-20 persons. It is quite understandable that such Tour Operators who support us with guests year around do have groups in the high season as well. However they are usually only at the Resort in the late Afternoon and leave in the early morning. Therefore the resort is quite during the day and Individual guest can benefit from the resorts great grounds very much.
I will post a copy of it on the staff’s board since such compliments are a great motivator for our collaborators. I hope that we shall be able to welcome you and maybe your family and friends one day to the Legend Chiang Rai as well and are looking forward to such favorable occasion.
With kind Regards and Thanks again,

“Great place for one night in Chiang Rai”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

We stayed here for one night on our way to Laos.

This was our first night on holiday after travelling from London via Bangkok to Chiang Rai. Arrived at 10am and the room was ready. The hotel was very peaceful and a great place to recover from jetlag.

The rooms were large and comfortable with an outdoor area. The outdoor shower room was great.

The restaurant was nice, large choice for breakfast and the evening meal choice was equally good.

Overall a great place for to stop over on the way to Laos.
