In the Khao Sok Tree House Resort you get really jungle feeling and true hearted thai hospitality. We stay there for two days and nights and felt us in good hands. The treehouses are in 2 - 5 meters up the trees and have different sizes. The furniture is simple, but in a good condition and you feel well - in the middle of the jungle. The employes were always friendly and helpful. You feel more like part of a family not as a guest of a big hotel. The food, especially the thai cockeries of the owner from the resort, were great
We made a whole day jungle trip and elephant trekking. The organiziation was perfect. Good price, cool experience. When you book, choose the whole day jungle trekking. You will learn a lot and you will never see a jungle like this way. Ask for Joy, he was real great and funny guide.
We think we made a good choice with the Khao Sok Tree House Resort.
We are looking forward to 2012 when we will come back to see this lovely family and wonderful exciting place on earth again.

During our trip to Thailand, we visited the beautiful jungle village of Khao Sok for five days and four nights. Upon our arrival at the Tree House Resort, the staff there demanded we pay for the four nights accommodation up front. We did not give this anymore thought at this time. After looking around the Khao Sok village at many other hotels, B&Bs and resorts, we found out that the price we had paid for the Tree House Resort was massively over priced! We discovered some very beautiful places to stay, even the most impressive place we found was less than half of the price we had paid for the Tree House Resort.

The Tree House Resort was very old and also badly maintained. The rooms had mould inside, which caused a very strong damp smell. The sheets were unclean and the bathroom was in a disgraceful condition. After confronting the owner concerning the hygiene of the room and the resort in general, their reply was that we had already paid for what we had seen on the internet and therefore would not refund our money.

We would recommend that when traveling to Khao Sok you should not book anywhere to stay before you arrive. There are many places to stay ranging from 400THB to 2000THB per night and finding a clean, comfortable room upon arrival would not be a problem.

We stayed three nights at the Khao Sok tree house in December 2009.

If you consider staying at the tree house resort, you might need to know that the hotel is located quite far from the "village" (app. 15 minute walk).

The room was a good deal (no aircon) and the hotel offered a wide range of activities.
The pool was not clean and still under construction.

We enjoyed our stay but we though the owners were too pushy on making us buy tours..etc (even tough we had booked a lake tour + elephant tour + jungle trek..).
The "guides" we had for those two tours booked were nice but quite unuseful : we did not learn anything through them and had no explanations whatsoever (!).

If you stay at Khao Sok, make sure to have a drink / eat at the Arts river view lodge hotel (located in the village) where you can see the macaques across the river.
Also, there is a small temple, 10 minutes walking distance from the hotel, were you can see a lot of monkeys.

Me and my family stayed in March 2009 at the Khao Sok Tree House Resort for the second time – each time 2 days – and enjoyed it very much. The tree houses themselves are clean, homely and wonderfully decorated in an ecologically sustainable manner as the management acts very responsible for nature. There were nothing to complain about, electricity was available all the time. The resort is located quite near to the national park's entrance, just do a quick, nice walk through the little village. The area around the park has a rich vegetation, very green and full of animals' voices, but it's certainly not "inside" the jungle itself as one may naively consider. Therefore you have to walk deeply inside the park as a matter of course. The prices for Tree House Resort's tours and its bamboo huts are adequate; whatever we wanted (e.g. rare tickets for the nightrain from Surat Thani to Bangkok) was organized by the helpful manager Sakda.
We definitely recommend to book a tour for the national park as you will see much more animals and plants with a guide's specialized eyes and explanations: We had 2 different ones – one for 2 adults and one for 2 adults plus a 11-years old-girl – with a great and very experienced guide named Daeng. The One-Day-Tour for 2 adults was really exhausting with a hard rock climbing-part but our physical effort was richly rewarded by observing gibbons (!) and flying dragons next to us or taking a cold bath in a rocks' bassin after a good meal prepared by Daeng. Walking on our own the next day was totally disappointing in comparison to our tour. So, don't save money at the wrong places…
