“Cozy boutique hotel in Germany ;-) no, no, Khao Lak!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

We stayed in Jan 2012 at Chongfah 12 nights and really enjoyed the service and good breakfast. Rooms are nice, clean and OK in size. We booked a Deluxe Bungalow, so we had an outdoor shower, bathtub and jacuzzi plus the same inside. The hotel is really small (boutique style) so you won't be walking distances from your room to the beach, pool or breakfast.
The beach was a bit disappointing, as you don't get the right impression from their webpage. We didn't realize it's so steep and there are stairs to get to it (rather dangerous stairs) and the beach itselfs is no more than 2-3 meters wide (low tide), during high tide you can't even swim! This is apparently due to a recent flooding.
The staff is really helpfull and very friendly.
Be aware that the audience is mostly German. So if this is an issue with you, you might check alternatives...
One really big downside is general safety when travelling with small children. Of course in Thailand you can't expect european or US standards, but we had to constantly monitor our children (1,5 and 4) to avoid accidents on the grounds, which is not quite relaxing. So I wouldn't recommend the hotel to families with small children.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms next to the pool/restaurant.

“PARADISE !!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

My husband and I found this hotel by default whilst reading someone's report on another hotel in Khao Lak - Thankyou so much.......what a find!

We stayed for 6 nights to celebrate our Silver Wedding Anniversary.

From the moment we were picked up at the airport to the sad moment we had to leave, we were made to feel so special. (p.s. in my opinion, it is worth paying the extra to have the hotel collect you from the airport).

We had a beachfront bungalow and it was fantastic, the view from our room was amazing, and the sound of the waves just magical, if not a little scarey through the night!!
The bed was soooo big and comfy and the outdoor jacuzzi bath lovely - tea and coffee and mini bar also excellent, with affordable mini bar prices, unlike hotels in the uk! The complimentary water was also a nice extra.

The food was fantastic, we mainly ate in the hotel, breakfasts - something for everyone, and they even made a different drink each morning with ginger, lemongrass etc. with a wee note telling you how it was made and the benefits of it!!
The buffets in the evening are wonderful and they even do a great pizza!!
Only disappointment for us was the cost and standard of the wine - we treated ourselves to a bottle one evening over £30, and it really was quite horrid, however, we knew this before we went - thanks to other reviewers, and the lovely cocktails made up for that.

The pool and beach were wonderful, and the whole ambience of Chong Fah is very relaxing.

We did a few walks around the little sleepy town, but there was not much happening and, to be honest, it was nice to return to "our haven".

Onto the lovely staff who "made" our holiday.
From booking direct with Bow, to the driver at the airport, to the bar staff, the lovely maids, the groundsmen, the reception staff, the chefs. These lovely people are the BEST. We have never had service like this anywhere. They even called us by our first names.

Our room was decorated on 3 ocassions for our anniversary, and we were given a gift on the day - how lovely, how thoughtful.

We were very sad to leave this fantastic hotel and all the lovely staff, but left feeling totally relaxed. Hopefully, we will return one day.
Now home, we miss the wonderful sunsets and cocktails!!
Thankyou Chong Fah for making our anniversary so special.

Room Tip: Beach front bungalows worth the extra. Perfect for quiet, relaxing holiday, but not for partying!

“Wonderful service, beautiful resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at chong fah - it is a beautiful resort with great food and it is remarkably quiet and relaxing. The staff at chong fah are amazing, and really enhanced our stay - they are approachable, friendly and went right out of their way to help in any way possible. We will certainly be back

“Wonderful stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

We really had a wonderful stay at the Chong Fah resort.
Extremely kind and helpful staff, a warm welcome at arrival with a drink, flowers and fresh fruit. A beautiful, very clean deluxe and well-equipped bungalow with seaview. Even a great outdoor bath/jacuzzi (for this type of bungalow).
All the small details really made a difference: choice of pillows, sweet attentions/surprises before going to bed, nice decoration, very helpful staff ...

The breakfast buffet is delicious with pancakes, fresh tropical fruit, toasts, cereals, eggs, warm dishes.. In the evening you can eat in the hotel restaurant or walk along the beach where you can find a lot of (somewhat cheaper) restaurants.
We really enjoyed the beautiful sunsets with a delicious refreshing cocktail!

Just one small remark: if you have small children, there is no broad beach just before the resort, but if you walk a bit to the left the beach is more suitable for children to play. At the resort there are plenty of comfortable long chairs to take a sunbath.

We would definitely recommend this resort, we are already dreaming of our next stay..

Room Tip: We chose the most expensive room type with seavieuw, but we think it's really worth it consideri...

“A very nice resort, with a very kind staff and an amazing pool”

The staff is really smiley and efficient, the pool is nice and has a fantastic view on the sea, the rooms are wide, clean and fully equipped, the breakfast is excellent with a large choice of food. The area is calm compared to other areas around Phuket

The downsizes are: the sea isn't transparent in this area, the massages offered by the hotel are expansive compared to the tariffs you can find next door, the atmosphere of the restaurant could be improved at evening with better lights and music and more sofas, the air con in the room is noisy. There are some works going on around the hotel a d the pool is close to the road so it's a bit noisy
