Arrived at about 9pm after about 10hrs of flying only to be greeted (or should I say not-greeted) 2 poor-English speaking rude staff members. The reception area is "average" despite undergoing a massive renovation. We were taken to our room by a friendly porter who assisted with 1 suitcase, the rest carried by my partner and I.
Opening the door revealed a filthy, run-down, old, smelly room with 2 single beds despite us booking a double room requesting a double or queen bed. We booked via STA travel (owned by flight centre) and the photos are nothing like
the actual state of the place. We paid about AUD $40 a night and didn't expect wonderful things but it doesn't mean dirtiness or NO customer service is exceptable. We told the porter about our bedding arrangement who said to tell reception in the morning. The beds contained dirt and hair and the shower is simply a tiled floor with no screens or shower base. My partner and I did not want to sleep there so we walked about 10-15min to main kuta beach and went out for the night. Reception changed our room in the morning whilst also making us feel as if the mixup was our fault, although would be easily fixed by them using a cheap computer to operate their admin instead of pieces of paper. The second room was cleaner but still had the horrible bathroom which smells as water collects on the tiles from each shower. Our tap is broken and constantly drips and there are always bugs on the ground coming in from the shower. The bed however seems clean which has allowed us to last 5 days in this place, knowing we had already booked the remainder of our trip at bounty hotel. We had to book another hotel for our last few days that we had planned to stay at bakungsari. The tv in both rooms was old (def not new or flatscreen!) and only has one English speaking channel. There was no bathtub and the pool area whilst seeming nice did not have an operational pool bar!!! as described in their advertising!!! The breakfast was ok but minimal- one pancake or one toast, one egg & one strip of bacon or rice...you can order fruit but who would trust it from this place.Our phone doesn't work and reception staff are very unhelpful- they won't even give you a bandaid.
Please spend a bit extra and stay elsewhere- the service provided was not good enough and we were not impressed with our experiences here.
Positives- free wifi, minimart across the road, cheap room rate
Negatives - disgusting service from reception, poor English speaking staff, small breakfast, dirty bedlinen towels and room, no poolbar as advertised, location off alleyway (scary when walking at night), phone broken, old tv with one English speaking channel, broken tap, horrible bathroom that creates smell.
