“Great little quiet beach getaway with great food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2011

Excellent service and great food for breakfast and supper. Carolina is a great cook as was her helper. Although the Wifi Internet connection did not work, they lent me a cell phone internet memory stick so I could do some work. There is a self-service fridge with beer, wine, juices and soft drinks which operates on the honour system. But don't forget your cash, as they don't take credit cards.

Room (or rather cabin) was basic, with shower and hot water, and some local artwork and basketry. The cabins also had a hammock in front of the door so you can lie in the shade of the patio.

Great beachfront location and right in a Garifuna village. Shady hammocks on the beach for the use of guests. It was very quiet other than the sound of waves, except for Palm Sunday when the beach was invaded by holiday makers, most from San Pedro Sula. Garbage was strewn everywhere by the end of the day, which is typical for Central America where they do not seem to realize what garbage cans are for. Emilio (Carolina's husband) and the rest of the Garifuna community did an amazing job of cleaning up quickly right after the revelers left.

A nice family run hotel, we got to meet them all, including Emilio's brother and mother visiting from Peru. Definitely worth staying there, and while you're there go to the botanical garden in Tela.

“The location is great because we did not want to stay right in Tela and seeing the Garifuna Village was a plus.”

We did not want to go back into Tela in the evening so we ate at the hotel both nights and it was wonderful, as was the breakfast both mornings. The cabins were clean and beds were comfortable.
The Vargas family make sure you are comfortable well-cared for.

“Perfect Relaxing Private Beach Getaway!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 March 2010

If you’re looking for a private cabin inside a beautiful courtyard on a secluded beach with delicious local cuisine look no further. Not a resort filled with tourists, your cabin is in a quaint village outside the vibrant town of Tela.

“A Rustic and comfortable family Place to Relax on the Beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 March 2010

We traveled to Caribbean Coral in Triunfo de la Cruz (Close to Tela) in February to relax and spend a few days on the beach in Honduras. This is a small family run B&B right in the middle of Coral Beach, if your are looking for something different, and can adjust to a laid back place in comfort but without the "necessities" of other hotels, like pool, wet bar and satellite TV, you just might enjoy even more of your own vacation.

When we made our reservation, we were told no deposit was needed because there was not time to do it since it was a last minute travel arrangement. It was very helpful to get an Email of what we might expect and what we should not. Pay close attention to it, because it is very accurate and you come in with the right expectations. The Map on how to get there from San Pedro Sula was also very helpful.

There are several cozy bungalows surrounding a semi open court yard and we stayed on the first one from the beach. It had two double beds, and a small bathroom with a tile shower. Service was done with care every day, with new towels since we used them at the beach often.

Breakfast was included and was delicious with fresh fruits, pastries and fresh juices. We made arrangements for diner or lunch when we were in the area. The menu is limited, but all of the dishes were home cooked and fresh. Steak was marinated in yogurt an ginger, fresh fish filet of generous portions, and whole fried fish was very tasty. You can get the food served on the beach, but we chose to have at the restaurant. Prices were reasonable.

We also liked that we were welcomed to the restaurant's refrigerator when and if we needed any cold drinks to take them on an honor system. There is a little notebook with your bungalow # to write the drinks/items you consumed, and we also used to store our own fresh fruits, we purchased along the way.

We enjoyed to have been able to walk on the beach, when almost nobody was there and on Sunday when Everybody was there. Then there were many vendors offering their services, foods, coconuts.... etc.

I have read the other reviews, and they were mostly accurate as a nice rustic place to stay with attentive service. I had no problem to pay for our stay as soon we got there, since I was expecting it, and I brought the money needed with me to do it. Since we were checking out early in the morning, we also estimated our expenses and left them with the maid, no problems doing so. It helps to speak spanish, but it is not a necessity.

Check out the pictures from the trip, if you need any other traveler info, you can contact us, we'll be glad to help.

“Excellent Service, Trustworthy Proprietors, Safe and Secure, Beautiful Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 February 2010

This is a very quaint and excellently located hotel. It is a great, natural way to spend a vacation - no TV or A/C, just enjoy the sounds of the beach. The cell phone provided is a wonderful service, and the breakfast is more than adequate. We thoroughly enjoyed the fresh juices and fruit each morning. It is a bit rustic for an american, but if you try it you will find yourself refreshed and with a little more character at the end of your stay. It is clean and the service is excellent.
Tips: try to make sure you have enough local currency for taxis, etc., since there is no ATM or bank in El Triunfo. Always ask how much taxis, etc. should cost, so you do not get charged more as a foreigner. The dinner prices at the inn are about $8 - $10 a plate. Although you might find them a little cheaper elsewhere in town, the convenience is nice and you can feel that the food is safe.
