My family and I have been to Honduras before and wanted to try someplace different so we opted for Tela. We had heard of Hondurashores Plantation from a coworker who had previously stayed there and booked Casa Lila for a week.
Getting to the house was a bit of a mission due to the poor condition of the road but once there, the house was spectacular! It is a bi-level, single family home with three bedrooms (5 beds total), state of the art kitchen, pool, basketball court and great views of the ocean and/or mountains from every single room in the home.
Me, my husband and my mom stay upstairs in the master-bedroom and we all fought to relax in the king size jacuzzi at night. The entire family would walk to the beach (about 1 block away and visible from the house) and relax during the day and returned to the house to cook a late lunch and hang out in the pool while the boys (including my 5yr old nephew) played ball outside... we felt like we were at home and the 24-hr armed security guards made us feel secure.
At night, we would either head back to the beach club or to the "Steakhouse Restaurant" to enjoy some dinner and drinks.
Overall, the town is small but very quiant and the people are nice. The trip to Punta Sal was a must but what really made our trip special was staying at Casa Lila. Our new home away from home.
