“CASA LILA is awesome!”

My family and I have been to Honduras before and wanted to try someplace different so we opted for Tela. We had heard of Hondurashores Plantation from a coworker who had previously stayed there and booked Casa Lila for a week.

Getting to the house was a bit of a mission due to the poor condition of the road but once there, the house was spectacular! It is a bi-level, single family home with three bedrooms (5 beds total), state of the art kitchen, pool, basketball court and great views of the ocean and/or mountains from every single room in the home.

Me, my husband and my mom stay upstairs in the master-bedroom and we all fought to relax in the king size jacuzzi at night. The entire family would walk to the beach (about 1 block away and visible from the house) and relax during the day and returned to the house to cook a late lunch and hang out in the pool while the boys (including my 5yr old nephew) played ball outside... we felt like we were at home and the 24-hr armed security guards made us feel secure.

At night, we would either head back to the beach club or to the "Steakhouse Restaurant" to enjoy some dinner and drinks.

Overall, the town is small but very quiant and the people are nice. The trip to Punta Sal was a must but what really made our trip special was staying at Casa Lila. Our new home away from home.

“travel writer loves this little place”

I'm a traveller writer who has spent her holidays at Honduras Shores Plantation six times. We've been here since Oct. 9th and will leave the 23rd.

I think we were here when climber from Florida was here. It is the rainy season here, and it has come down in sheets every night and often at times in the daytime. The 6km., road is a mess, but cabs still come. The road will be fixed when it stops raining, in fact the dirt and gravel are waiting beside the road.

In the dry season, it is a different story, the road becomes a typical cottage road at home, yes with potholes. It usually takes 10 minutes to get to Tela and a taxi costs around $7.

Again in any rainy season anywhere with the wet comes bugs... ask anyone in Ontario who suffered through an unusually wet May, June and July. Right now here you need bug spray, and long pants, shirts, shoes and socks during the dawn and dust.

Bugs love me, so I wear ode du bug all day, my pal hasn't a bite. In the dry season the beach is raked to get rid of sandfly eggs. Again dawn and dust there are some bugs around, but nothing serious. The beach is a pretty 10 minute walk from the Cabanas (I'm a fit 65) there is a pool there. Closer are four condos again with their own pool but just perhaps a five minute walk.

Other than that I agree with climber it is a great property and the maid comes in every day and does the dishes.

“Beautiful place-difficult to get to”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2008

This resort consists of a residential area with beautiful new homes and includes the cabanas that are offered for short term rentals. The cabanas are thoroughly modern and luxurious and are on par with anything available in a luxury resort in the Florida Keys. There is roving security and controlled access to the complex. The beachside area is spectacular and has a very large area of beach with covered walkways, tables, a large fresh water pool, a children's water play area and a full restaurant. The staff is very friendly and most are bilingual. The negatives: The cabanas are about 3/4 of a mile away from the beach area and if you decide to walk, the mosquitos will eat you alive. In order to reach this resort from the main highway requires traversing about 6-7 miles of extremely poor road which becomes nearly impossible when it rains. This is an ideal place to visit during the dry season.
