Very nice place. It was recently renovated, so ignore older reports in older guide books. The hotel is grand. My room was very spacious with all the amenities you'd expect in a five-star hotel. Services include a swimming pool, fitness center, restaurant, bar, casino, massage, etc. Great breakfast buffet. Location is perfect.
If you're going to Batumi for sightseeing, think again, as there's really very little to see compared with Tbilisi.

My wife grew up in Batumi and we had the opportunity to visit Batumi for a week the summer of 2006. We stayed at the Intourist and I had the opportunity to run into Senator John McCain from Arizona as he stayed over one evening. The hotel has good service, the outdoor pool is great, it's a five minute walk to the beach/Black Sea. We enjoyed the breakfast there, deserts, etc. The room was small, but clean and well air-conditioned. They have a money access card and bank in the lobby area. I would't recommend eating at the Italian restaurant that's on the premesis. I would defintely recommend the hotel and would stay there again.
