Just back from Aqua Blu, had a great holiday in this huge hotel. We had 2 adjoining rooms 1 with superkingsize bed, other with singles in, both with their own bathrooms, large showers & kept very clean by Yaser, thankyou. We gave him 10 egyptian (£1) a day and to our barman who kept our drinks coming round the pool, and to the pool guy who sorted our sunbeds. Overlooking 1 of the many pools in a quiet part of the hotel, room 3240 if you're interested, away from the music & restaurant. Our pool had kingsize sunbeds with 8" mattresses & huge reed/grass parasols. We did a lot of sunbathing. The kids will love this place. Loads of great different flumes, wave pool, rapid river, even small scale gondaliers for a laugh. Everywhere kept very clean by staff, who in the main were cheery & chatty. just say no thankyou to the many guys touting for massages & trips, they soon leave you alone. Same if you go to the old market or Naama Bay where you will be pestered ( do not fall for the "will you sign my book ploy or I will give you anything free ploy", they just want to get you in their shop for high pressure sales tactics). Food was good, not great, but with the 4 restaurants, enough to stop you being bored. Beer ok, wine ok, whisky ok, cocktails yuck.If you like casinos do not go to the Grand Sinai you will get ripped off for drinks,,2 small beers 1 whisky/coke, 1 vodka/pineapple, 1 coke 375 egyptian (£40).Casino royale much more pleasant, free cokes, large bottles beer 30 egyptian( £3 odd) Do not order taxi from reception, you will pay at least 50% more. We were charged 80 egyptian to naama bay, we got back for 50. next time we got it down to 40 & got back for 35 (petrol is about 25p a litre). One more tip, after a few days we met taxi driver Alex (ring [--]) does not drive like a looney like the others, & will not screw you. One day he picked us up at 14.30, took us to a speedboat trip which he arranged for 600 egyptian, about £65 ( reps want £90) waited an hour for us, took us to the old market, waited another hour for us, then took us back to hotel. Without haggling I asked how much he wanted he said 80 egyptian ( yes £11), needless to say he got a large tip. Give him a try & say Bill said hi. No I'm not related, it was our first time to Egypt.
