“A little quiet”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

A little late in writing this review, stayed there in October 2011. We stayed as a party of 3 girls (in our twenties)
When we arrived at the hotel in the evening we checked in and were showed to our room, all well. We had a decent size room, with 3 single beds, nice bathroom etc, no complaints.
The hotel staff allowed us to have food, although the restaurant had closed, which we we happy about after a long day travelling.

Daytime in coral hills there were 2 pools to chose from, the main one or a smaller one (next to our room) so the majority of the time we stayed there. For drinks in the day there was only the one bar in reception, the pool one was closed throughout our stay, must have been out of season.

The food throughout our stay I have to say was basic, however we did always find something to eat. Towards the end of our holiday the lunch was cooked for you rather than a buffet style, mainly because there were no guests and food in buffet was going to waste. The dinner was a choice of pizza, fish, chicken, burger with chips, salad etc. Evenings still tended to be buffet, not a massive choice, but always managed to find something.

Night time in the hotel was very QUIET! this is the main draw back, there was only us 3, 3 other scottish girls and a few Egyptian guys upto the day before we left. We had the bar/restaurant/pools to ourselves! Not bad for the peace and quiet but would have definitely preferred some entertainment on a night, even a bit of music (which we made our own, ipod, with speakers!!) We discovered the hotel next door had karaoke twice a week, so ventured there, to Allseasons badawai... this hotel had quite a few english guests in, and more of an atmosphere.

The staff In coral hills were fantastic, mainly the bar man Waleed! Couldnt do enough for us, made cocktails, gave us advice about going out and about, absolutely lovely guy. Our cleaner was brill too, room was spotless every day, lovely towel decorations each day. Gave them a couple of tips throughout our stay, which we have to admit they didnt want to take.

Out and about in egypt is difficult. Its not a place where you would just go for a general stroll... Naama bay is a nice place to go, but just have to be prepared for the hassle! If you have been to greece/turkey and think they are bad, all i can say is get ready! Egyptians are worse... you just have to say a firm no! They are quite funny, but does get stressful.. regular quotes "asda price, primarni, buy one get one free, how many camels"
The old market is worth a visit too, but again hassle, hassle, hassle.

Location of the hotel is good, 5 mins walk from some bars and shops, probably about 15 mins to naama bay and the airport. Taxis are easy to get, or use the hotels shuttle bus for free.

I do like egypt, this was my fourth visit and am returning again in 3 weeks. I have to say I wouldnt chose to stay at Coral Hills again. Suppose it just depends what you are looking for, the hotel would appeal to people who just want a chilled holiday, happy to have a few quiet drinks on a night etc. I like it to be busy and an atmosphere, but just my opinion.

Anyway hope people find this helpful.

“Great Hotel Fantastic staff”

Stayed at the hotel from 16.01.12 to 23.01.12. The staff were accomadating from start of the holiday to the end. The DJ was great and played good music by the pool side. The hotel was clean and tidy. We did Bed and Breakfast the breakfast buffet was the same every day but the choice was large so could change what you had everyday. Had a meal in the Hotel and it was very good compared to some of the meals that we ate outside the hotel. The room was clean, had no complaints at all. I will be visiting next year with more friends and family.

“Improvements since last year”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

Decided to revisit Coral Hills again after visit in January last year and as soon as we arrived we noticed much friendlier staff and the hotel was much more customer friendly, nothing too much trouble. We had a very nice spacious and very clean room overlooking the smaller of the two pools. This year the hotel was much quieter than last year like everywhere in Egypt following the revolution. I would say that about 2/3rds of the rooms were not in use, but at least the hotel was operating, many hotels were closed seemingly for an indefinite period.
The hotel still offers incredible value for money.

Room Tip: Recommend that you state whether you would sun in the morning or the afternoon.

“Elite diving school is on site, but this is its best recommendation.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

Easyjet Holidays booked me here, but I chose this hotel for the Dive School. Elite Diving have a great team run by Alun and Moyra plus a group of diving and rugby mad welshmen! The school is on the premises of the Coral Hills, but this is actually of little real importance when there are only a few divers staying at the hotel. Elite run a shuttle bus to any hotel in Sharm and Naama to pick you up for your boat diving. Basic shore diving for Open Water cert, etc. is done at Sharks Bay, so that might be a good place to stay for courses.
The Coral Hills has a good standard of accom. for Egypt, far better than the Ocean Club or Rock Inn. The beds are big, clean and very firm. The double rooms are spacious, if a little sparse, with plenty of power sockets(unusual for Sharm). rooms 101 to 125 and 121 to 205(I guess, the ones above) look out onto the quiet pool, whereas there are many more looking out onto the noisy pool. Bathroom is good looking. Loo is good quality Duravit with embodied bidet spray for all Arabs and us Brits who don't like toilet paper. Bath is tiny, just enough for a ten year old, but there is no plug, even when I asked for one. Hot water is plentiful and VERY hot, but sometimes runs brown (see picture). Towels are changed even when unnecessary and are very well laundered and beds are made every day. I would have preferred proper cleaning of the room instead, but hey! this is Egypt! (see pic of corner of room) You have to expect grubbiness and appendages like shower heads, lamps etc to be hanging loose on the walls! Don't you?

Not being "all inclusive" I felt a bit second class as half board. They get everything upon demand and the others have to pay for EVERYTHING, even water with a meal! Unfortunately the all inclusive, down to a price mentality has cheapened what would be very good food. The chefs try very hard to make all the dishes look good, but looks are often better than taste, especially the sweets and cakes. As a vegetarian, there was a good selection to eat at supper, though sometimes too many meat dishes reduced this. Egyptian cooking is basically vegetarian with separate meat, which is FAR better than French German or Spanish cooking which mixes up meat with salads and vegetables. Breakfast was disappointing for me, as I eat fruit and yogourt. There was no fruit except a very poor melon salad, and no yogourts except a tureen of plain, and no muesli ingredients.
Mohammed was by far the best waiter, with personal attention and a winning smile. I think he should keep his waiter job, but be promoted to deputy manager for 3 hours a day to get the atmosphere in the hotel more positive! The place suffered from too many staff with too little to do!
Drinks were VERY expensive (26LE for a Sakara beer), so I tended to go to the Stella Bar where they were a bit less, at 22 LE but with much better ambiance, and free Wifi. The Hotel has Wi fi but charges a ridiculous price for access.
There was too much loud music at the pool and in the hotel bar, but I avoided all this.
The Spa was weird, with a charge of 100 LE just for the coolish sauna. Treatments are overpriced, so haggle, but I had an excellent Egyptian massage from a very strong and feisty young woman. It HURT at times but she had been trained well in a type of osteopathy which comes with that type of massage. By her standards, British spa masseuses are weaklings.
Hope this all helps.......Good diving! If you don't dive or snorkel, go somewhere else, like Cyprus or Marbella.

Room Tip: There are two pools. The big one has loud music and the small one is quiet, so if you don't like...
