My Partner and I (both in our late 20's) stayed at the ROBB for two weeks from the 1st of October, 2011. The hotel is beautiful and the staff can't do enough for you.
Reception
Check in and out was quick and the reception staff were more than helpful, polite and spoke good english.
Rooms
We booked a Junior Suite which was well worth it. The room was huge and clean, although the bathroom could have done with a bit of a revamp. It was very comfortable and the location was ideal, ground floor overlooking the adult pool. Booking a Junior Suite gave us certain perks like dining in the Fishermans Restaurant for breakfast, instead of the main buffet restaurant.
Food/Restaurants
Breakfast is brilliant, plenty to choose from. All pool bars provide snacks throughout the day which are very good or you have the option to go to the main buffet restaurant which we did a couple of times. However, we normally ate lunch in The Pub which does excellent steak sandwiches! We dined at the buffet restaurant mainly in the evening but did visit the Italian and Egyptian restaurants. The Buffet restaurant was very good; has something to please everyone by having plenty of choice. They have themed nights, the indian night was very good. The Italian and Egyptian restaurant were fab!! Food was outstanding!
Staff/Service
The staff at this hotel are top class! They can't do enough for you and are exceptionally polite and friendly Many of them knew us by name, where we were from and how long we had been at the hotel. The bar staff also remembered what our tipple was! The waiter in the Pub (I think his name was Mohammed) was brilliant and always asked how our day had been and would bring us fresh drinks even before our classes were empty.
The buffet restaurant could at times be very chaotic and I would say the service could be improved. On quite a few occasions we would be half way through our meal and we hadn't even been asked what drinks we would like. Although the staff in the buffet are helpful and friendly, we noticed that they would pay more attention to the "big tippers." We did tip the staff but only when we thoguht it necessary when we received good service. Apart from this criticism, it is very hard to knock the staff as they work very hard. The service at the Italian and Egyptian restaurants was excellent!
Pools
There are a number of pools to choose from, we tended to stick to the adult pool (when we could get a bed). The adult pool was very nice and of a reasonable size with its own pool bar. This pool was kid free, relaxing with soft music. My only problem was that in our 2nd week of the holiday, we had to be up and down by the pool by 7.45 to get a decent sunbed. The hotel should be much stricter on reserving sunbeds. There were one couple in particular (they were german) who would reserve 2 sunbeds well before 8am, they would arrive at the pool by 11am, stay half hour, go for lunch, come back for another half hour, go snorkolling for the rest of the afternoon and would come back late in the afternoon. They were allowed to keep their sunbeds by leaving their belongings and towels on the beds - this really wound us up - more should be done to stop people doing this.
We did go to the infinate pool a few times which had spectacular view over looking the sea, it was breathtaking!
We did fall ill in our second week and came down with the dreaded D&V. However, I don't believe this had anything to do with the hotel as it was spotless! We became ill after visiting Cairo to see the pyramids, which was very dirty so bewhere!
All in all, this is an excellent hotel in beatiful surroundings with friendly/helpful staff and lovely food. I would recomend this hotel to anyone and will hopefully return in the near furture.
Thank you ROBB for a lovely holiday!!
