“Ideal for some quick sun”

Here at the Blue Bay resort we had a really relaxing, wonderful time. We fancied a quick week away and booked Egypt as it was a quick flight for winter sun.
The resort is huge, but caters very well indeed for both families and couples by having very strict 'adults only' areas. Needless to say, as a young (ish) couple we would hit the adult pool in the morning and stay there all day. The bar at the pool served drinks and snacks and so most days we didn't even bother to go to the main restaurants for lunch. We stayed on the sunbeds reading, drinking and lazing until the sun dipped below the horizon in the early evening.
We were both a little worried about the food, being all inclusive, but 4 of the restaurants were A La Carte, and only the big restaurant was of a buffet style. The food is pretty homely, heavily salted, but it isn't bad by any stretch, and we loved the Grill Restaurant. Of course we weren't on a culinary excursion - the food was always tasty, filled our bellies, and helped to soak up the surprisingly good Egyptian beer.
We didn't go on any trips at all - we simply chilled out for the whole week. The room was spotless, the staff were incredibly polite and interesting, the bazaar was great to have a stroll through in the evening. We even caught a show one night.
We really enjoyed it here, and I have no doubt we'll be back for another cheeky week of sun just before Xmas 2012!

“2nd visit”

Most has already been said ,some changes for our 1st visit which had been in Sept 2008.
The main dinning room stayed open at lunch time which we found much better if you where not on the beach .The lifts in full working order not finished the last time, although using the buses wasn't a problem .You could also get lifts from the staff on the golf type buggies if you had a problem with walking .You will need a jacket for night as it's quite cool .The relax pool very cold ,the sea much warmer . The heat went out of the sun at about 3.30ish so then a little cool for sun bathing.Staff work very hard and are very friendly ,no problems with regard to having to tip to get the service . They hadn't seen that we had been there before the emails I had sent had not been replied to.They can't do hourly check outs they have to be either 3 or 6 hours at a high charge ,which I found very strange when ther motto is highest standard of service to all the guest .Thomson advisors couldn't help with this either .unless as a personal favour which is not what we wonted.Planes to small as very cramped for a med haul flight 51/2 and 6 hours back .something we will look at before travellingwith Thompson again .No tv etc on the flight either another cost cutting excersise .

Room Tip: Stayed in block 5 2nd floor quite room /near to the entrance of the hotel.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to share your most recent experience while visiting our resort. Sorry that we did not receive your email, and for the late checkout please note that majority of all hotels charges the late check out as a fixed price not per hour! Maybe in smaller capacity hotels they do. We are indeed delighted that you've enjoyed your holiday with us. We look forward to welcome you back in the nearest future,

“Should you stay or should you go?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

We have just returned from a week at the resort following the Red Sea cruise. This is a beautiful hotel and if you want complete opulence and luxury this is the hotel for you. It is a vast complex but don’t let that put you off as there is transport throughout the hotel to get you to where you want to be. If you want to be in the thick of things then head for the main area by reception. If you want peace and quiet then head further back into the complex where you can find a number of pool areas with bars and food and quite seating area’s with lovely comfy sofa’s overlooking the garden areas. With all that said there was very low occupy of the hotel but even when it started filling up towards the end of our week there were still no major issues.

We had booked a standard room but because of the low occupy we were upgraded. To a honeymoon suite which was excellent.. The room was large with a sitting area, two large single beds and a bathroom with a very large walk in shower. The beds were very comfortable and I wanted to bring the pillows home. The room was kept exceptionally clean with fresh towels every day.
The food was excellent with plenty of choice. We would highly recommend going to the fish restaurant and kebab grill (which are included in the all inclusive) where your food is freshly cooked. The Italian (also included) did not live up to the other two but was still good.

There are a number of facilities but unfortunately these could not be used due to not being heated. Of all the pools only one was heated and we could not use the spa deck as again the spa pools were not heated. You could go into the spa complex and use the steam room and sauna but we were very disappointed not to be able to use most of the spa facilities.

To get to the beach you use a lift which can be a bit disconcerting although there is a walk way but it does take a while to get down to the beach. With that said the beach is good with loads of sun beds and a pontoon where you can go and snorkel and look at the marine life. If you do not fancy snorkelling you can still see the fish from the pontoon which is highly recommended. Again there is a bar serving drinks and food.

The waiting staff, on the whole were excellent but the odd one was a little rude. The animation team as our rep said do their best. They do the usual games around the pool but the entertainment in the evening can leave a little to be a desired. Two of the shows they did have us crying with laughter. You cannot fault them for their enthusiasm but as I said you will either love or hate the evening entertainment.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for an upgrade its well worth the money. The standard rooms are at the back of the ho...

“Do some diving”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

Yet another trip to Sharm and back to the ROBB. When you find a good hotel stick to it. This time we did more shore diving on the house reef and not disappointed. Seeing a very large Hump Head Napoleon wrasse attack the coral and remove a good sized octopus spectacular. As well as much more. If you are experienced the dive centre is happy just to let you do non escorted dives after they check you out. The SS Thistlegorm is a must doing it on nitrox is they way forward. The Reef Oasis Dive Centre gives free nitrox if you are qualified. So do the course with them or before you go.
As for the hotel spot on. The rooms are still dated but who cares they are large and the family rooms are excellent. Our 2 children had there own twin en-suite, you basically have your own small unit. The spa treatments are expensive and no deals if they have any sense they should be doing better deals and they will be busy the management should look in to that. Thomson's excursions are £££££ shop around haggle for the taxi into town 40 Egyptian and book them yourself. Will be returning that says it all.
