“Fantastic, Friendly Hotel”

We stayed at the Nubian Island from 23-30 January. From the moment we arrived the staff couldn't do enough for you, with a welcome drink brought from the bar on arrival before being shown to our room by the friendly porter. The room was large, on the top floor (3rd) with a lovely view of the gardens and to the left the sea and Tiran Island. We had emailed the hotel prior to travelling and asked for a sea view room in a quiet spot and we were very pleased with the room (668). The staff in this hotel are the friendliest we have ever met, from reception to dining room, towel man and animation team. Special praise for Ruslana who sits at her desk in the lobby near the dining room and who goes that extra mile to sort out any problems or requests. Also James who arrived on the same day we did to join the animation team (James your irish dancing takes some beating!) - these two people work incredibly hard to make the guests stay at the Nubian special - we're sure they will both go far in the future, Food - catered for all tastes and we never had any problems finding something we liked, with plenty of variety. The gardens were lovely with two pools at either end, the quiet pool near the hotel building and the activity pool at the far end, near the beach. They had a spa which we indulged in, and would definately recommend. There were plenty of sunbeds both by the pools and on the beach. If you don't want anyone coming round from the spa, selling newspapers etc you can get a 'Do Not Disturb' sign from the towel man to hang on your sunbed and you won't be bothered. Yes, there were a lot of russian and polish guests, but we never had a problem and everyone seemed to get on fine. We loved our time at the Nubian and would definately return, without any hesitation.

“Beautiful hotel, grounds and staff!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

Reading the reviews on this site before travelling on the 26th January, they seemed to be a little conflicting in their opinions. I can tell anyone on their way to this hotel that there is absolutely nothing negative about this hotel - nothing meaningful anyway, nothing's perfect!

The buildings are original, modern and impressive, The grounds are teeming with greenery, well-kept and with a stream meandering through them. The pool nearest the hotel is quiet and ideal for reading & rest (if that's what you want), the water is freezing at the moment as it's not heated. The pool (lagoon) set near the hotel's beach is much livllier, the pool is heated and there is a full-on animation team of which one member is English, young James (lovely lad, knows nothing about football).

Our room was on the 3rd floor (top floor) with lovely views over the hotel and grounds to the Gulf of Aquaba & Saudi Arabi on the balcony side, and on the room entrance side, terrific views over the mountains and terrain of Sinai. It was cleaned thoroughly every day and towels, flannels etc changed every day also. Really nice hotel room, room 667.

The staff are wonderful, they are extra-friendly and hard working, they fully deserve tipping little and often in my (and other people's) opinion - especially young Mohammed who runs the Island Bar, Baghat who runs the Island pool area and Islam and his pals who are currently working at the beach area of the hotel.

I had the misfortune to need the doctor and I cannot praise the Guest Relations Manager at the hotel, Ruslana, highly enough. She marched me off to Dr George (who's clinic is in the Nubian Village Hotel next door) and I was treated immediately and with a care and consideration which is not usual in our country. I am in their debt.

Evening entertainment is not so good, which is a shame because they certainly have the facilities at the hotel, having a purpose-built full-blown theatre at the front of the hotel.

Children are not a problem, they mostly stay at the "louder" Nubian Village next door, where the water slides etc are. To say they are a "problem" in this hotel is quite frankly not only erroneous but ridiculous. Surely every traveller knows by now that is they want to see the minimum amount of children they don't travel in school holidays, other than that it is impossible to see NO children - plonkers!

Food is not really aimed to the English, the biggest nationality at this hotel being Russian, with as many Italians as English. However, overall, you would have to say quality and quantity is goodish without being outstanding.

Pool towels, of decent quality, are provided daily, which is a real bonus for obvious reasons - in a rather fething orange hue.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and would be very happy to stay there again.

Room Tip: Bungalows in the grounds are, apparently, larger than the rooms and well-appointed, but you will not...

“Red Sea Magic”

We have just returned from Nubian Island and I must say it is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. I think the secret was the friendliness and helpfulness of all the staff, who just could not do enough to make your stay an enjoyable experience.
It is a fairly small hotel compare to some in Sharm and I think this is what makes it stand out.
There are two small blocks of rooms and quite a few family bungalows dotted around the very pleasant gardens that meander down to the beach.
We stayed in one of the bungalows which have plenty of room, a lovely walk-in shower in the bathroom, fridge and safe (free of charge), a satellite TV, Tample wardrobe and drawer space and two big beds pushed together. Outside is a small garden with a table and two chairs.
The only slightly negative thing we found is the bedside lights. Because of the shades they are too dim to read by, but if you carefully lift the shade off then you are ok.
Reception is light and airy, tastefully decorated. The reception staff are so helpful.
This building contains the main restuarant, Il Modo, plenty of room, light and airy. Again the staff are on the ball, getting you drinks and clearing tables.
Foodwise, plenty of choice, catering for quite a few nationalities. I am a bit picky but had no difficulty finding something to enjoy. A big salad bar, loads of mains and vegetables, choice of two soups, plenty of desserts and fruit. Quite often there is also a BBQ.
Standard of food was good (no chips at dinner time, only lunchtime.) Breakfasts covered everythingfrom full English to continental (No Bacon, It is a Muslem-run kitchen). Plenty of fruit and cereals, bread, a toaster, good tea and coffee.
There are two pools, a quiet one near the main building and a more active one near the beach, This is where the entertainment team do their bit. Sun beds no problem, no need to sneak down at 6 am with towels, there are always plenty.
The Animation Team are from all nationalities, but no matter who you are, they would always say hello and talk to you. There was always plenty going on with a show every evening, which we found to be very good in the main. Mostly outside entertainers, although the gang do put on some of their own shows.
Their is a lovely little beach, again plenty of sunbeds and a jetty that takes you out to the reef for snorkelling. The hotel also has its own dive centre, gym and spa.
Their are some shops in the main building and some near to the first pool.
Check-in was excellent, helped by cold drinks and it was here we met James , the English member of the team. He was always around, took time to chat and help in any way he could.
The managers also held cocktail parties, one for the British and one for everyone.
Overall a brilliant holiday and we would definitely stay at the Nubian Island again. Well done everyone.

This hotel caters for the eastern block, russia, ukraine, georgia and croatia, while there we had around 10 to 20 from the UK, the food is catered for the obvious majority, never seen a bacon rasher or a sausage. The barmen are slow time, the alcohol and soft drinks are as sweet as syrup. On a positive side barmen excluded the staff, hotel room, gardens, animation team and site onthe red sea are all 5star. The pub the Union Jack is around 2/300
hundred yards down the road a full english breakfast with a coffee and toast realy well worth a £5, clean, quality sausage, drink and service. The sea is brilliant for kids and snorkelling.
The worst thing was the rep, there a very nice hotel representitive. I spoke to both results from the later.

Room Tip: The bungalows are good

“It's a solid 4-star”

My wife and I spent a week here and have no regrets. For January, it s a good price, and probably one of the best options in Nabq bay. The landscaping in particular is second to none.
Nubian Island is also right on the beach - which is a huge plus. An unexpected highlight was the absolutely amazing snorkeling just off the hotel's pier. (Take your own gear).
Nubian Island is partnered with the other resort next door, "nubian village" and that's the one that's more family-focused, kid friendly with a waterpark and such.
Other reviews have already highlighted how great the staff are - it's true. English-speaking is not a problem and if you go there with a bag full of pound-coins to share you'll have extra preferred service all week long.
Food was fine. Like any of these places some savvy Buffet survival skills are required.
We also booked two excursions online before leaving (Sharm Club), which broke up the holiday nicely.
Sharm overall has a drawback where sales-guys are allowed to come up and "hassle" you on the beach; selling excursions, henna tattoos, and other nonsense you're not interested in whilst topping up a tan. For this, the hotel provides nice "Do not Disturb" cards which proved quite effective.

I'll happily recommend this resort to anyone. If it's the budget-point you're looking for, this place is great.

Room Tip: Standard rooms are large with king-size beds that can sleep 3. (3!). Executive suites have an extr...
