“Very nice and well managed hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

I just came back from a break at Club Magic life in Sharm. I was very impressed overall and would definitely recommend it. I have stayed in Sharm before at an Egyptian rated 5* so my expectations had been set low in the past. Despite this we wanted some winter sun and not a long flight so we trusted to the reviews of this hotel.

On arrival I was impressed, the greeting, lobby and arrival process was very organised. Our accommodation was nice, quality furnishings and fabrics, the room is a good size, nice bathroom with a decent shower and a really large and comfy bed. The restaurant is excellent, spotlessly clean and again very well managed. We were bowled over by the effort that goes into setting the theme for the restaurant every night, the presentation of the food and food sculptures is amazing. The food quality is excellent the variety available is also excellent. We could not fault the main restaurant or the theme restaurants. We ate at all the theme restaurants, they were really lovely. There is a set menu so the food courses arrive if you want them or not! I did find I couldnt eat all the food. The Service in all the restaurants and bars is superb.

The staff at the hotel are very efficient, very helpful and really nice. They all work so very hard. We were pleased that tipping is encouraged in tipping boxes that can be shared by the whole team, thats only fair since the amount of effort that goes into the preparation and presentation of the food and drinks is a team effort. As advised on trip advisor we took a load of £1 coins and tipped after every meal, trip to bar etc. It doesnt cost much over a week and the money makes such a huge difference to the staff. Its nice that you dont feel you have to tip, you do it because you want to. If you ever need any coins then you will find the staff all need to change them into notes so its easy to make the trade.

Because I have experienced Sharm before I wasnt expecting much in the way of coffee or alcohol. Thankfully this hotel has a lovely coffee bar in the tower and most of the bars serve fresh brewed coffee. The alcoholic drinks are non branded and what UK residents would consider home brew standard. The hotel does a very good job of mixing it up into tasty cocktails that help you forget the quality of the alcohol. The beer and the wine were acceptable.

The pools and saunas are all very nice. We used the sauna and steam room a lot.

Whilst staying at the hotel I became seriously ill at 4 am. I should clarify that the illness was not related to the hotel in any way. We called reception who sent the doctor who was there in only 10 mins and was a really good doctor. He had everything he needed to help me on site and give me medication which he had ready in his clinic. We settled the bill right away and felt the bill was most fair.

This time after advice on this website we didnt take any Egyptian, Sterling, Euros etc are all accepted everywhere.

My top tip would be when landing at the airport if you arent planning to leave sharm then dont bother queuing for the visa, go straight for the passport control and you will find there are landing cards to complete on the table tops.

This hotel could be improved as follows:
1. In room entertainment facilities should be improved by adding a film rental service
2. There should be a kettle in the room and the fridge should be stocked with water and drinks.
3. The hotel should utilise the indoor spaces more in winter, its mainly geared up for you to sit outdoors at night, it was chilly and so all the indoor bars filled up so we were forced to go back to our room :-( The reception lobby area should be setup as another bar for winter evenings.
4. An option of proper ground coffee should be offered in the main restaurant instead of poor instant. coffee. A decent cup of coffee at breakfast is a basic right surely :-)
5. Better presentation of the cocktails, salt/sugar around the rim of the glass would help specially with a margarita. Perhaps get the waiters to watch the film cocktail and prepare the drinks with more of a flourish.
4. The steam room needs to be freshened up, it needs maintenance and didnt smell clean and it would help if you added essential oil to the steam to enhance the experience.

Sharm El Sheik itself desperately needs some quality entertainment. A decent water park would be a good start. And Neama Bay has only got worse, wall to wall rubbish for sale in the shops and all the shops sell the same stuff. This place needs to be cleaned up and a better variety of merchants encouraged to set up shop. We were looking for some nice quality crafts, clothing, art, handmade cosmetics. We walked around the place with plenty of money in our pockets there was simply nothing at all worth buying.

Room Tip: We had a nice room by the quiet pool which is nice for couples.

“Winter Sun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

If you want to get some winter sun and you’re not looking for gourmet food and luxurious surrounding’s then Sharm Magic Life will do you fine. Compared to 4 other 5* hotels we have stayed in in Egypt, it is the best so far. The grounds are large and very well-kept with good pools, one heated. Why people complain about cold water in the others, in winter, is a mystery to me! If you want warmer water, go in summer. The rooms are clean, sparsely furnished, but adequate. The beds comfortable, our junior suite had a walk in shower with plenty of hot water, all have fair sized balconies, though most ground floor are in shade. And yes, they are noisy in the morning, but accommodation blocks with tiled floors, staff with room servicing trollies and other guests banging doors always are. Beach is clean with loads of sun beds and wind breaks, though as you are on a reef a pier is supplied to get over to the open sea. The food is well cooked, and unusually nowadays, well-seasoned & even more unusually, mostly piping hot. I loved the Indian selection and was constantly finding whole black cardamom pods in some of the dishes, a sign to me that the dish has been prepared with skill & care. Sure, you will not see a fillet steak or lobster thermidor but you will get lovely fresh bread, good soups, imaginative salads, turkey & duck, chicken, veal, braised steaks & beef liver, vegetable, pasta and pulse dishes, a selection of deserts and cheeses, and hardworking staff. (The chefs can be a little grumpy, but we all are) Magic Life is owned by the TUI Thomson group whose biggest market is Germany, followed by France, then UK, and of course try to fill their hotels. The Brits do not have a monopoly here& there is no problem with other nationality guests. Hassle. If you show a poor Egyptian vendor that you are interested in his ware`s, be it taking a photo of his camel or looking at a fridge magnet or piece of leather work. His only objective in life now is how to persuade you to pay the best price he can get. Settle on a fair price first or just say no and walk away. The previous also applies to the wellness centre salesman (Sama) who prowls the sunbeds, don’t believe him, go direct. Finally if you need a reminder. Walk out of your all inclusive hotel up to the street and look around their world, then think how lucky you are and enjoy your holiday.
PS. Special thanks to Thomson Airways for giving us a new 737 plane with more legroom.

Room Tip: Higher floors more chance of sunny balcony

“Club Magic Life-Sharm: Magical Is The Work”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

First, the bad news: 4 nights stay is definitely not enough!
Now let’s accentuate the positive, and there’s lots of it:
URL: http://www.magiclife.com/en/club-details/clubs/egypt/club_magic_life_sharm_el_sheikh_imperial.html
Location: excquisite; south of the Sinai Peninsula
Package deal: All Inclusive (and I do mean ALL INCLUSIVE, 24 hours a day snacks & drinks, and the staff literally hover over you and yours, waiting for your slightest gesture)
Rooms: ours was for 3 adults + 1 kid: there were 2 large beds and 2 corner beds in one room divided by a pull-away curtain. Comfortable bath, LCD, mini-fridge, lots of closet and drawers space & a spacious balcony.
The units are divided into blocks, and their colors are easy on the eyes, together with the abundant greenery.
The main pool is very wide, easy to access from all sides for all units, and heated, with a central snack & drinks bar. It being a heated pool helped a great deal in the 3 windy days without sun; that and the incredible Team Magic Life people who gave great workouts, put out fab tunes and generally roused everyone out of their pool chairs. Lots & lots of pool chairs decked out to strategically face the sun when it deigned to shine.
The beach is white, clean sand, lots of semi-private beach seatings. Every kind of sports activity is available, and some not so common like archery. 2 long, long, LONG diving piers. Beautiful views of the mountains, and a nice promenade that extends along the beach to the right & left, I’m guessing along other resorts as well, with speed bumps! Joggers rejoice.
The main restaurant has an incredible number of seats both inside & outside. I highly recommend sitting under the sun or stars if the weather permits. The pony-tailed chef as I like to call him, keeps a stern eye on all stands, and he should be proud. Breakfast & lunch are always superb, with every taste catered for. And the dinners are themed every night, with a cute display across the main entrance hinting at the theme of the night. Too many flavors, cuisines & tastes to count, but even the diet-crowd get their own stand! And did I mention the late dinner, which comes, believe it or not, after the official dinner. This restaurant has an all night snack bar as well.
There are 3 other themed restaurants located around the compound. We only had time to sample the Mai Thai one, and it was good. The other 2 offered oriental (local) cuisine and Marine-flavored eats. The Mai Thai offers lunch & dinner, the other 2 dinner only, and you have to book for dinner for any of the three at the guest relations office starting at 2 pm. Couple of hints though: there will be a line, so be there as early as half an hour before, and be prepared to enter your dinner reservations info (including your room number) via a touch screen thingy (don’t panic, the nice lady with the laptop is there to help you along if you stumble)
What else? Oh, yeah. The Team Magic Life offers daily activities by day, Kids disco by 8 pm after dinner in the American Bar, and Nightly Variety shows in the amphitheater, that or a movie, your pick. And they have some incredible dancers, choreography, and they do put on quite a show.
I know I have definitely missed many other good aspects, so just be prepared to be pleasantly surprised at every turn, because I’m out of breath and I’m getting Sharm-sick already for that place.

“Magic is the key word!”

Returned from Club Magic Life on 9th February after a 10 night stay with my partner. 2nd time in Sharm but 1st time at Club Magic Life. This hotel is Superb! The service is fantastic....I would like to say a personal thanks to OMAR FAHMY in the eagles lounge, all the waiters were brilliant, Marco and Mohammed at the Mai Thai, so lovely. The food is amazing, the buffet restaurant has TONS of choice, for breakfast lunch AND dinner.....the A la cartes.....amazing, egyptian, thai and fish......well worth queing for, dont know whyanyone would complain about queuing whether its 5 minutes or 20 minutes its worth the wait.....not only is the food worth it, you get lovely wine too, 1,2 or more bottles all included. As far as drinks are concerned, couldnt believe that there was like 25 or more cocktails all inclusive, found my favourite and enjoyed a few most evenings as an extra luxury. Loved the fact that there was a Relax pool here, we didnt visit the activity pool as they played music all day, plenty people like this but the choice of the relax pool was great, and the beach was great too, so peaceful and beautiful. We did not get a bad stomach this time like we did the first, however even though we did the first time its soon fixed with a few tablets from the pharmacy. You honestly cannot complain about ANYTHING here......well except that you have to go home eventually......but nevertheless we will be returning to club magic life next year! One thing I would add is that not enough people TIP at this hotel......we tipped every lunch time and every night time.....no matter how small it is so appreciated and deserved. MAGIC
