“Hit or Miss - Divided Opinions”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

Opinions on this Hotel are clearly divided so is it a Hit or a Miss?

Well for us the Hotel is a Hit and we had a good relaxing holiday. However for quite a few people we spoke to it was a complete Miss. So how can opinions be so devided.

We booked a swim up room with a sea view and it was great. There were faults resulting from poor workmanship but these were never going to spoil our holiday. Not all rooms generate such a positive view however. I don't think I've ever heard so many people grumbling about their room and requesting a change.

The restaurant booking system also promotes much discussion. People we spoke too claimed to have queued every day and not got a single booking. This was not our experience. We queued our first time and booked the Italian restaurant. We never queued again and went after lunch and managed to book all the restaurants we wanted to (we didn't go to the Stone Grill). We enjoyed the food in each restaurant but witnessed people complaining and sending food back in each one.

We found the buffet restaurant to be a disappointment. There is in my opinion a limited range of food available and the quality is not consistent. We relied on the 'cook to order' stations on more than one occasion.

My wife did pick up a stomach bug as did quite a few other people. The Hotels clinic treated several people for free although we were never told this at the time and were directed by reception staff to buy medicine from a Chemist in the Hotel next door.

What I did love about staying at this Hotel is that the entertainment staff only entertain those that want to be entertained. There was no loud booming music at the main pool, I wasn't nagged to play games, I wasn't treated to buffoons trying to drum up an audience for the nightly show and no one tried to sell me a Henna tattoo or a massage. I was delighted to receive a cooling drink of my choice from the very attentive pool side staff on a regular basis (with no pressure to tip).

I guess there is some risk in booking this Hotel given that so many people report on here that their experience was a complete MISS. I guess we were lucky to avoid the horrors they faced and in our experience the Hotel is a HIT.

“Our stay at Sensatori Sharm”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

Just returned home from a two week break at this hotel. Had a swim up room with sea view absolutely suberb. We were near to the Tiran beach resturant where 18 year old Ahmed worked, he would bring us drinks up to the swim up pool outside our room, we had to swim out to get them them but it was a great service with a smile. The food in the main resturant was ok but very repetitive and definitely not 5* more 3 or 4. We only tried three of the other five resturants the Italian was great the food was 5* and have no complaints at all. The American beach resturant again was very good with a good selection of food and great service. The Merhaba resturant which is supposed to be an Asian resturant was more Mediteranian than Asian and I personally did not find the food very good.
The entertainment in the theatre was of good standard and better than I would have expected. The piano bar is the place to be in the evening before and after the show in the theatre. The bar service was exceptional, especially one of the waiters Khaled Nour who would always ask if we required another drink as soon as our glasses were empty. He must have had eyes in the back of his head. He was alway happy and very funny a credit to the hotel. The pianist Tom Beech was very good and he would quite often be accompanied by performers from the shows to give good a nights entertainment.
The evenings could get quite cold especiallly if you go on any trips into the desert so I would suggest you take something warm as well as shorts and t shirts.
You get a much better exchange rate in the hotel when we went I got 8.0 egyption pound to one english pound at the Thompsons shop in the UK. I could have got anything from 9.0 to 10 egyption pounds to one english pounds at the hotel or in the shops aroung the hotel.
In all this was a great hotel and we are definitely thinking of returning same time next year.
Hope this has been of some help to you.

“Had a nice time but wouldn't go back!”

2 adults and active toddler. Chose Sensatori as it was a luxary hotel with good facilities for Kids. The hotel has everything you need but some things definately need tweeking. Childrens pool (pirate ship pool and paddling pool in main area) were absolutely freezing and nobody used them. The restaurant served lunch from 12.30pm which I think is too late for young children. Should be open from 12pm, all a la carte restaurants didn't open until 1pm so didn't get to use any of them. The snack pool bars at main and family pool stopped serving food and drink at 4pm. My son has his tea at 5pm and there was nowhere to get him any food. restaurants opened at 6.30pm which was too late for him.

Staff would still knock on the door and press buzzer when 'do not disturb' sign was put out. This happened most days.

Free Wifi should be available in all rooms.

Access to the pool area from our room was difficult, had to get 2 lifts, walk through piano bar, lobby area, reception and the cocktail bar then get a lift just to get to the ground floor. There should be a lift from all floors down to ground level.

Hotel room was excellent, we upgraded to the Suite which was worth every penny. The swim up rooms and standard rooms have tiny balcony areas that are fully open.

In a nut shell, suggestions I would make for the hotel to be improved:
More suitable Restaurant opening times
At least 1 bar should be open all day serving drinks and snacks
Swimming pools for children should be warmer as they are not being used
Free Wifi in the rooms
Better quality food served in restaurant and not so repetative, it is not 5* quality and could be much better.

“Very Relaxing”

Hotel Excellent.
We had swim up room in Family area with Sea view, superb.Very clean, sheets & towels changed every day.

Food was good, had better though. Waiter ( cant remember his name ) was great, couldnt have given us better service. Went to 2 of the other restuarants, one on the beach & the Italian, both very good.

Couldnt have had better service in the restuarants or bars. Ahmed ( young lad on beach bar service ) was brilliant, Came from Cairo, couple of new kids he said he had, he was a credit to Hotel, he couldnt do enough for you.

Beach not great, but we are used to American beachs which are superb.
Snorkelling amazing, you must do it, if you dont you would regret it, even more colourful & amazing seeing coral & fish under water.

Cant say much about area as didnt venture far or into town, we did walk along the path to the headland every morning past other hotels & that was pleasant.

All in all, a very relaxing holiday, weather was great every day, temps 22-25 & sun all day

Room Tip: At this time of year have a swim up room in the family area with sea view

“Fantastic hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

My wife and two young boys stayed here for a week. It's a fantastic hotel, really well set up for families with young children... The nursery, run by UK staff, was excellent, and the evening entertainment for the kids was good fun. Our boys loved going on the jetty every day to see all the fish and then played on the playground on the beach.

A tip - visit the 'Sensatori Egypt 2011' page on Facebook before you travel - it's a great place to get tips and information from other people who've aready visited the hotel!
