Yesterday my girlfriend and I returned from what must been the best hotel experience in our life so far.
I booked this hotel in August 2011 when it was ranked as number two here at Tripadvisor, and I believe this hotel soon will be back where it belongs - at the top. It is not "an egyptian" 5 star hotel, but it is truly a 5 star hotel by all means! I really dont understand those that doesnt rate this as top notch. My girlfriend and I have been travelling at 4 and 5 stars hotels in places like Miami, Venice, London and Istanbul, and this hotel beat all of them! The service level at Stella Di Mare even outperform the suite experience with Royal Caribbean in my opinon.
Let me start with the one thing that makes this hotel really to stand out: Its employees. The manager of Stella Di Mare should be very proud of this staff! Absolutely fantastic! Friendly and service-oriented to the fingertips. We had a tiny issue in the ala carte restaurant one of the evenings, and the assistant manager of food and beverages and his staff fixed it and pampered my girlfriend and me to a point it almost got embarrasing. This show that this hotel really care about the wellness of its guests. Let me also especially point of the superb service level in the ala care restaurant La Scogliera.The food here was ridiculous good!
It is so many details that makes this hotel exeptional, and it is impossible for me to mention all of them. The laundry service, the beds (I almost didnt want to leave the bed..), the spa pool area, and the free shuttle buss service to and from the center of Naama Bay - to mention some of the details.
Food: Many of Tripadvisors readers is concerned about the food. Dear fellow travellers: Do not worry about this at Stella Di Mare! If you go with the AI package as we did, then the food will not disappoint you. Some persons points out that they got a bit bored with the buffet food in the La Terrazza restaurant, and to those the answer must be: Why dont you try one of the other great dining venues this hotel has to offer? In the AI package you got, beside the La Terrazza, the Corallo Rosso (Mediterranean set-menu), La Scogliera (asian set-menu) and of course the beach bar (great burger, and a nice lunch alternative). Enjoy all the venues! The food at La Scogliera was out of this world, and the restaurant is quite romantic..
Guests: yes, it was russian guests at the hotel - together with scandinavians like me (Im norwegian, living and working in Riga, Latvia), brits and italians. We had not a single negative experience with any of the russian guests. Actually, the most noisy guests was two norwegian families and a gang of british females in the age around 35+. In general, it was quiet and a very nice atmosphere. This hotel is for those that want a relaxing time. I would not recommend it to those that is seeking a week with hard parties!
Room: Our room was a deluxe room (1081) in one of the villas. More than enough space, quiet (did not hear a sound from Naama Bay or the pools), wonderful soft beds, very clean and well equipped. The sea view was limited, but it didnt bother us since we hardly used any time on the balcony anyway. Soft drinks from the mini bar is included if you go AI.
All in all we had a great vacation, and this hotel is one of the main reason why our vacation was as good as it was.
..we are already planning to return to this hotel in February 2013
