Anybody who, like me, has severe apprehensions about visiting Sharm all I can say is don't! I really didn't fancy it one bit! First of all thank you to the trip advisors who kindly provided me with first class advice. I can honestly say we had a fabulous time.
We went for my husband's birthday and picked the Jaz Mirabel Park. A combination of recommendation from Thomsons shop and meeting our budget. My expectations weren't particularly high, I must say, as I stocked my case with immodium, diaocalm, mossie sprays and the like. I was worried I wouldn't be able to eat much (with my sensitive stomach) and that the drinks would be watered down so we took some duty free booze and as many 'snack' things we could. Needn't have bothered!
From the minute we arrived, I was impressed with everything. The reception was fabulous when we arrived and the standard of service remained high throughout. Nobody could do enough for us! From the room attendant,Mustapha, the restaurant manager, Aziz and our own personal waiter Ahmad not to forget the wee Thomson rep, Kim, who had only been there 2 weeks but was lovely, we felt very very special.
We enjoyed all the food, the drinks, the entertainment, the pool activities. Our bed was huge and we both found it very comfortable (slightly on the harder side but we slept really well in it!)
I see a lot of debate on here about whether it is a 3,4 or 5 star hotel. I don't exactly know what that means? Stars are awarded on amenities and this hotel had everything! Lovely common areas, big bedrooms, big bathrooms with plenty of toiletries. t.v., patio, gardens, 2 pools, kids pool, gymnasium, spa, jacquzi, entertainment, kids disco, nice food, drinks, attentive waiters. It was also very very clean throughout and staff were working all day cleaning and gardening! If its within your budget and you get all this then what does it matter how many stars? If I stayed in this hotel in London, all inclusive for the price we paid, we would think it was 20 stars!!!!! Makes me wonder what exactly people compare the star rating on? We were at the Bellagio in Las Vegas and it cost 3 times as much as this for room only! The bed wasn't any more comfortable and the service was undoubtably inferior!!!
In addition, you can go to the Beach hotel and the Club hotel. We wandered through the Beach hotel, to get to the beach, but were more than happy with our own little section.
If anyone has any questions they want to ask, feel free to message me.
