We enjoyed our stay at the Mirabel Park – it was ideal for a week of winter sunshine. The hotel is part of the Jaz Mirabel complex which also includes the Club and Beach hotels. It is a little confusing at first as you can use all the facilities of the Club hotel, but only the Reef snack bar, Sand beach bar and pools of the Beach Hotel. The Glow disco is AI up to 12pm. If you want a drink or food anywhere else in the Beach hotel you have to pay extra.
We requested a sunny room and that is exactly what we got,it was lovely waking up to the morning sun. Our room was adequate, overlooking the heated pool, cleaned every day, a large shower, lots of nice toiletries and wonderful towel art provided every day. We had a mini bar in the room but you had to pay if you used any of the drinks provided even the water, which we felt a bit strange in an AI hotel.
One of the pools was heated which was lovely, and also used for water polo and aqua gym. Plenty of sun beds and a towel station, (also has a good selection of books from other guests) We also used spa facilities, large Jacuzzi, sauna and steam room as part of AI.
You walk through the Beach hotel to get to the beach, and promenade. Our hotel’s jetty is not yet complete but you can pay to use the one next door (approx £3 each) and you can use their sunbeds and snorkel from the end of the very long jetty with easy access in and out of sea. We saw a good selection of fish while we were there .
Entertainment is low key, we did see one show in the Beach amphi-theatre which was good, but found it difficult to find out times of entertainment in hotel. We felt animation team needed to be a bit more informative.
Food was ok, we received 2 vouchers for the a la carte during our stay and enjoyed both the Chinese and Lebanese restaurants. We would recommend going to the Cactus restaurant in the Club Hotel for your evening meal, it seemed quieter than the Flooka restaurant at the Park Hotel and Mamoud looked after us very well.
The Thomson rep Ahmed was very knowledgeable and we were very pleased to have use of our room, and AI facilities extended on last day. We didn’t do any organised trips this time but hotel puts on shuttle bus to Naama bay (prebook with reception day before - £4 return journey).
Another nice touch was the cocktail evening put on by the hotel – good way to meet other guests. We found all the staff to be very friendly and helpful and always smiling. Would certainly recommend this hotel.
Room Tip: First or second floor facing sun (usually even number rooms face south)
