After a fantastic trip around Egypt, the Red Sea was somewhat of a disappointment, mainly due to the availability of quality resort accomodation. We came here as it sounded less commercial than other resorts, but what we got was an all inclusive type of hotel with very average quality accomodation and very poor food. The staff at the pool were rude and verging on unpleasant. They even charged extra for putting milk in the tea! The hotel pool was freezing, to such a degree that there was no point having it open, as it was impossible to use. They also charge extra to sit in the (also freezing cold) jacuzzi in the pool area. The pool should be heated or else advertised as not in use in the winter months. The beach was close and lovely, apart from the incessant Egyptian/Euro pop music, but again, not very warm when we were there.
It would also be wise to advise people that the Red Sea in Dec/Jan is not warm, more like British summer, ok in the sun but cold in the shade, and very cold snorkelling.
Having said all that, my husband was quite ill during our stay and the on site doctor was great, as were the reception staff.
