“Perfect for what we needed!”

My boyfriend and I stayed here in October 2011. We spent lots of time looking for good-value hotels and eventually plumped for Siva Grand Beach as it 1) had good prices 2) had decent reviews.

We had a lovely time (spent lots of time diving as well - Bijou dive centre comes highly recommended!) and enjoyed our time relaxing on the beach and by the pool. Ok - it's not going to win awards for its haute cuisine and the free booze isn't the best, but it also isn't the most expensive place in the world so we were very happy with it all (especially the delicious bread and pizza/waffles in the afternoon.)

The entertainment in the evening wasn't the best (in fact we enjoyed it as it was so hilariously bad!), but the setting was beautiful and definitely value for money. It exceeded our expectations following the previous reviews we had read on Trip Advisor so ignore the negative and go!

Room Tip: We stayed in one of the bungalows which was very quiet and peaceful

“Good value to escape the chill of winter”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

We went All Inclusive and booked very late for £770.
FOOD AND DRINKS
All self service, except the special evenings which are booked but still free
Generally plentiful, but certainly not Cordon Bleu!
Evidently food which is left over is recycled into a similar dish the following day, which seems to be the norm for AI, and must be the way that they keep prices down.
Eating out is inexpensive: Between £10 and £13 sterling for 2 courses including drinks.
The choice of alcoholic drinks In the hotel is limited and beer is served in small glasses - In the end I chose to go out and pay the full price for something which had some taste. My wife was annoyed that a piña colada wasn't available on the AI deal, but all of the ingredients were available and being served in other free drinks.
LOCATION
This part of the strip has no character, but for those who hate being hassled this is probably a welcome respite.
The Marina is a £3 taxi ride away and is pleasant but similar to many others in evert country of the world.
ROOM
Upgraded to a suite -very nice as it gives a number of fairly comfortable seats.
Bed was v comfortable
GUESTS
This hotel is largely focussed on a german clientele and it's probably true that the Brits were fewer in number than the Germans, and Swedes.
Most of the guests at this time of year are sedate/moribund/dormant - not the place or time of year for anyone with high energy levels. (something about God's Waiting Room comes to mind....)
WEATHER
This is our second trip to Egypt in December/January and the temperature is usually very nice to sit and read, but there is often a chilly breeze, so you need to sit behind some kind of wind-break. You do need a warm jacket if sitting out in the evenings.
PRICES
Most drinks seem to come out well under £3 sterling each even in the most touristy places.

“A great time”

I have to confess we were rather 'unsure' about things before we departed this country but when we got there and upon reflection since we have been back what a fantastic time we had at this hotel and yes one of the few places we have been to where we would seriously think about going back. All in order everything was super including cleanliness, food, drink and facilities. The bar and restaurant staff were super and always greeted us. Have to say there were only a few english there but this certainly didnt cause us a problem. Everything to us just seemed to be available whether it was a nice grilled vegetable snack from the beach bar (where you could just help yourself to drinks if you wanted to!!) or a lovely dinner from the restaurant buffet in the evening. The beer and wine was extremely reasonable on the taste buds too. We would also recommend the fantastic day trip we had to Luxor - we got to see quite a few of the sights and what an eperience we had. Our tour guide even treated us all to a 'maccy d's' on the way home!! Well done to everybody who made our holiday so nice,

Room Tip: Next time though we would ensure we are in the main hotel building as opposed to one of the bungalow...

Enjoyed three full body massages would recommend you try one!!Would certainly return for reasonably priced winter sunshine.Have been to Egypt 3 times previously all good experiences.

“All you need for a holiday in the sun”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2011

This was the first time I traveled All Inclusive – a poor way to spend your holiday if you are looking for adventure but very convenient if you're just looking for relaxation, which I was this time!

Siva Grand Beach Resort was an excellent choice for a first timer. Our room was huge and kept immaculately clean all week. We had a nice balcony overlooking the garden. The lobby is large and airy and the staff in the reception is very helpful and accommodating.

I found the whole Resort comfortable and spacious. The pool was clean and heated (December). All the public areas were constantly cleaned and well kept.

There are plenty of sunbeds in the pool are and on the beach. Unfortunately, this resort, like so many others, suffers from the phenomenon that guests book the best seats at dawn not to show up until much later...

There are excellent opportunities for coffee, afternoon snacks or a drink on the beach. There are also changing rooms, showers and massage treatments. I tried one, it was nice and relaxing. I paid Euro 20 for just under an hour.

A bit stressful is that you are constantly approached by staff who wants to sell additional services and meals. Frankly, this gets pretty annoying.

The food did not disappoint me, though some dishes after a few days tasted pretty much the same. There was always plenty to choose from - vegetable dishes, fish - and meat dishes. The breakfast was rich and good. I especially enjoyed the possibility to choose my own freshly made omelette.

In the evenings, it is nice to take a stroll outside the Resort Area. There are a lot of shops nearby. Unfortunately, it is almost impossible to get close to them because the sales technique is extremely aggressive.

If I want to have week of relaxing all inlcusive again, I can well imagine returning to Siva Grand Beach.
