“Lovely and relaxing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

Having stayed in Dahab town before, we decided to return to the area but to somewhere outside the town, so that we could have a bit more peace and quiet and also have on the doorstep beach and snorkelling. The spot was perfect.
The hotel isn't huge like the Hilton next door, and as such has a lovely atmosphere. Being able to recognise staff at the Beach Bar and in the restaurant, that sort of thing, even the guy who cleaned our rooms came after us as we left with clothes left behind in the wardrobe!
Beach area is lovely, although don't imagine it's on an isolated part of the beach - the stretch of beach is shared with a couple of other hotels and numerous windsurfing/diving stations - and it is possible to snorkel directly off the beach and be wowed by the fish. The sunbeds/umbrellas on the beach suffered from the age old problem of towels before breakfast, but the hotel has a good idea of making the front 'row' of beds for families with children only, so that they can watch their kids directly infront of them in the water, this helped a lot!
Pool is gorgeous and always empty.
Food is buffet, and evening meals always had a different meat on the bbq, pasta for the unadventurous, along with lots of other options. It was a bit monotonous, but they're cooking for lots of people with varying tastes, so it's pretty good really, but do go into town and try out some restaurants. Breakfast good, fresh fruit and omelettes made to order, plus other stuff - great eggplant stew thing!
We went all inclusive, which was lovely for the kids - lots of apple juice and ice cream, and good for us too - beer and gin fizz!
Room, family room, was fine. Clean and spacious with a view of the gardens/beach, see photo.
Other things - definitely worth heading out on a quad bike (desk just behind the Beach Bar), highlight of our trip. Use their backgammon boards/chess sets and watch the sunset in the bedouin tent by the beach. Have a sociable game of volley ball or table tennis when the wind dies down. And try VASS WINDSURFING, not Harry Nass - very accommdating and helpful.
And enjoy your trip!

“Very good experience”

Very good choise for any windsurfing enthusiast. The hotel is great, clean and comfortable. Food is excellent and plentyful. Location is great, several surf renting stations just on the beach. Great!

“Great windsurfing location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2011

I stayed November 2011 for 1 week to Windsurf at Club Vass which is right next to the hotel right on the beach - location couldn't be any better. Walk out of breakfast straight to the sandy beach. I did notice each morning that there were towels reserving the best sun loungers on the beach - evidence of the plague that afflicts most hotels - but by the pool it was less prevalent.
I found the food very, very repetitive for the dinners and even though I was staying half board I ate out in Dahab after 3 nights and next time would stay B&B and eat out at night - great choice of wonderfully situated eateries in Dahab town with great choice and value to make the stay much more interesting. Breakfast was very good although seemed to contain much of the food from the night before if you like dinner for breakfast.

It's a 30 min walk along the coast into Dahab - I tended to walk in and get a taxi back - taxis are very cheap and the hotel shuttle is equivalent of 50p.

My flight was delayed a day and despite my company telling the hotel I was still coming they let my room go and had to stay next door at the Hilton for one night - they then put me in a room by the busy service road at the back so I wasn't overly pleased - they were polite about it but didn't even offer any form of compensatory service which was surprising.

The rooms are nice and spacious - the bathrooms quite nice and the balconies fine for 2 people. Do take mosquito spray/tablets as I forgot and the first night was bitten many times and ended up swatting mossies with my blood in them. Air con in the rooms was also very good.

All in all a very nice hotel, great beachside location, just let down a bit by the food at dinner and I felt by the lack of a service focus when they let me down on my room.

I would stay again but eat out at night.

Room Tip: Away from the noisy road at the entrance to the hotel

“Another brilliant holiday”

Fantastic setting, lots of wind! Hotel clean, staff polite and obliging. The food was excellent, we have stayed here for several years and the food was much nicer this time. The pool is lovely and empty!! The best bit is not having to get up at dawn to reserve a lounger, even though the hotel mainly has German guests.

“Amazing beach and windsurfing - friendly staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2011

The Swiss Inn attracted us because it is said to have a much more Northern European/Swiss clientele and not the cheap and loud Russian crowd. Well, indeed, this resort is very civilised.
They have brilliant buffet food, nice and clean rooms (we had a lovely balcony as well), a brilliant team for the diving (it is spectacular diving!!), and, as a fanatic windsurfer, I must say that the local windsurf gear shop on the beach, right at the hotel, was everything I had ever dreamt off. The wind at Dahab is so regular, so predictable, the water warm (you can see tropical fish while surfing), it is every surfer's dream come true. At least I felt that way.
The resort also had nice evening entertainment, without being vulgar, or it being too much.
My wife and I loved it, and we are certainly going back!

Room Tip: Choose a room not too close to the beach, but more towards the road. It is quiet there at night, and...
