After calling other hotels in Avalon that were booked, the Avalon Inn had vacancies to my surprise. After we entered the room and smelled the foul odor, I understood why there were vacancies. The room smelled like there were 900 pairs of sweaty sneakers hiding under the bed. I told the front desk about the odor and was told housekeeping would "check on it" and they never did. The bathroom tub, door, and wall had some left over hairs from previous clients - totally gross. They should pay more attention to housekeeping. I slept with as many clothes on as possible.
When I had checked on the status of the foul odor, I aksed the front desk if there were any irons to use. Since it was 2PM they told me to check back when I needed it. Sure enough at 6:30PM when I needed the iron, they were all gone. I waited at the front desk until tenants were called to return their iron so that I could use it. For all the money I paid for two nights, they can afford to put irons and ironing boards in all rooms. Actually, they should demolish the place and build new. It should be against the law for anyone to stay there.
