As per the many previous reviews hotel, Fernandina is a family run hotel that is spotlessly clean and cared for. I had an extended stay here of nearly 2 months and from my arrival and through my many numerous questions and requests...everyone was always so kind and helpful, never making me feel like I was a pain, but rather that I was part of the extended family. Puerto Ayora is a small town and if you are here for more than a few days, you will recognize people and feel like you are on a small campus, and Fernandina is like the town ---absolutely lovely and welcoming.

Have hot water on demand, a great pool area with evening bar, good filling breakfasts, comfy lounge common areas, free purified water (bring a water bottle to refill for your day's excursions), and free wifi that is also now accesible in the rooms. Hotel quality is also known by the locals.....as I met more locals and told them where I was staying, they all raved of the hotel and knew the team there. Laundromat literally next door, free computer to use in the reception area and just 2 blocks away from Charles Darwin Avenida...so convenient and yet quieter, removed from the "crowd"

Rooms are of a good size with desk area, a safe, wifi, AC and Hot water.

The hotel itself is a wonderful stay, but it's the family and the workers that make you feel at home and comfortable..making the hotel a true gem.

My daughter and I stayed at the Hotel Fernandina for four nights in October 2011. It was a wonderful place for us to use as a base in Puerto Ayora. Luis was beyond helpful in arranging day trips for us and all the staff were knowledgeable and helpful, assisting us with tips for things to see, transportation, and suggestions of restaurants. We had a spacious room with comfortable beds and, luckily, enough hot water in the mornings. The hotel was immaculately clean...and there was a safe in the room. As one other reviewer said, the rooms don’t have a great deal of furniture, but we weren’t in the Galapagos to stay inside and watch TV. We spent one afternoon at the pool, which was clean and very refreshing on what was a very hot day. There were many nice touches to the hotel, like the swing seats hanging in the balconies..and the small outside tables where one could have a drink or write in a journal. The breakfast room was nicely decorated...and the continental breakfast was good.

The location was terrific. We were close to the main part of town, yet it was quiet at night. We walked everywhere and felt safe doing so. The laundromat next door was useful...

I would definitely go back to Hotel Fernandina. Thank you very much to Luis and Maria and the rest of the wonderful and friendly staff.

I have stayed at the Hotel Fernandina in May 2011 for three nights. The room was spacious, but there is almost nothing in the room beside the bed and a very small open cabinet. That was a bit disappointing. But it was good enough to sleep. Free internet at the reception, staff was very helpful in organising excursions. Hotel Fernandina is in walking distance to the center of Puerto Ayoro and also in walking distance to Charles Darwin Station. Breakfast was fine.

The location can't be beat - you are tucked away from the malecon by about 2 blocks -so its quiet - yet close to the water. Breakfast was delicious & staff were very friendly. The room was clean, comfy & modern. There are cool swings hanging in the halls/balcony area that serve as mini hammocks - nice touch. Free internet & wifi - but it is pretty slow.

We stayed here as part of a tour with the company Nature Galapagos - they were amazing & would highly recommend them. Three islands, three winning hotels, and 3 amazing guides!
