“Great Hotel....strange to find such a place in Abidjan...a bit Costly though...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 May 2010

Tiama is a fine place in the heart of Abidjan. We stayed here for 2.5 weeks after our initially horrifying stint with the La Licorne. The hotel is very clean. Room have adequate space. We never tried the restaurent however it was ususally crowded and we heard that the food is also good.
The pool is nice and clean, small though. The corruption levels in this country are very high hence make sure you dont leave the hotel without proper guidance....advisable take a taxi assisted by the hotel. This hotel also has many english speaking persons hence language is also not a problem here (unlike all other options in Abidjan)
A good place to stay!

“Clean and secure hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2009

This was my first trip to Ivory Coast and i spent 2 nights in this hotel. I found the food in the restaurant to be very good. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Air conditioning worked great. The bed was comfortable, not sunk in on the night stand side. The hotel had guards outside the hotel, in the lobby area and at the elevators.

Good :
- Room and bathroom is clean
- Good location although city isn't too big to get around
- Good breakfast

Bad :
- The shower could be much better and more up to date
- no 24 hour room service

“Loved the food”

I was in abidjan for work, and had stayed at the sofitel a month before my stay at hotel tiama. The hotel itself is very nice, located in the city centre, the guards are friendly and tend to your safety. the entry hall is luxurious, and the rooms are quit good size, very clean, and very comfortable. The bar, wich is located at the pool, is somewhat under stocked and tends to run out of beer. All hotel staff are very friendly, and don't hesitate giving you service. The best service i have ever experienced around the world. the restaurant is exquisit, with absolutely delicious food. I stayed here over new years, and there was a big party going on, wich really gave me a feeling that is was welcome. the hotel overall gave me this feeling. It's not far from the city centre, where there is adequate shopping availability, and the local people are mostly very friendly, and leave you alone, even if you're wandering the streets all alone. City centre have some bars, of wich the olympic bar. This is no bar as you would discover in europe. its old and small, but the beer is cold, and the owner is very open and friendly.

  • Liked — Nice newly built building
  • Disliked — The climate of abidjan, that's the only negative thing i have to say about tiama.

“Best hotel in Abidjan”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 March 2007

I have stayed at the Tiama once or twice a year for 5 years and even lived there for 3 months once.
The Hotel Ivoire and Hotel Golf are state owned dumps which you should avoid at all costs. You will want to move out after one night if not sooner. The Novotel is OK as is the Sofitel, but the Tiama is the best and priced between the two. The Novotel has a very large pool and is used by aircrews, but the food is not great and its 3-4 star versus 4-5 for the Sofitel and Tiama.
The Tiama is very clean. No insects!
Service is fast, competent, friendly and inobtrusive.
Security is excellent too and as the hotel is used by the UN etc.
There is free secure underground parking within the hotel.
It is across the road from a police station and pharmacy, and next door to Standard Chartered bank which has a secure guarded 24 hour international ATM.
The location is CBD so busy during the day but you should not walk around at night.
The doorman can arrange a car and driver for about $10 an hour or $50 a day if you have a lot of errands to run. There is also a rental car desk in the hotel if you want to pay twice as much for a newer car via them.
The restaurant and room service serve top quality european food. $10 for a club sandwich. $14 for breakfast. $3 for a mini bar Coke. Dinner mains are $20-$30 which is expensive but it is a luxury restaurant not a local joint.
The aircon works 100% and is quiet.
Rooms are not designer but are in very good condition with very nice bathrooms. Get a "senior" room if you want a sitting area. High floors have better views, obviously.
There are 3 free in room english and french movies every day and night. Good range of foreign TV stations too, CNN etc.
There is a proper business center with fast satellite internet access. In room access via a cable or wifi is also available for $15 a day.
There is small shop with international magazines and newspaper and local souvenirs etc.
The smallish pool is on the roof of the parking garage and is a good spot to relax or have lunch. There is a gym too but I have never been in there.
They have meetng rooms and a large second floor bar which you can hold functions in. I did that once and it was a good deal and very well done.
Re prices, book direct and you should only pay 60% of the rack rate. Expect to pay about $150 for a junior room, slightly more for senior. They have suites too but I have not seen them.
