We stayed in a gorgeous gorgeous room on the 18th floor (Penthouse). Spectacular view of the sea and lagoon. Could watch the sunrise and the sunset from the balcony--what a treat!
Pros: Great pool with direct access to beach and beach bar. The only hotel in this area that has that so it's definitely a bonus. Very good hotel service--at the front desk and around the hotel. Breakfast is included and the breakfast food was great. Would stay here again.
Cons: Beach is not a place of retreat. The hagglers are incredibly aggressive and it's almost impossible to sit and read a book in peace. If you want peace, sit by the pool and still get the view of the sea from it. Food for lunch and dinner is not great. Strongly recommend that you eat elsewhere and better yet, go to the old city. El Laguito is not exactly a wow area to stay. There isn't much to do and most of the fun is in the old city which is only 5,000-7,000 peso car ride (equivalent to 5-8 bucks).
My husband and I stayed at this hotel for the first half of our trip and for the rest of our trip, we stayed at another hotel in the walled city. It was perfect. I recommend doing this way if you want to have the beach and the old city experience.
