“Everyday a rough day in Paradise”

With only minutes driving from the airport one enters a world so different then what you are used to. The Hotel Quadrifolio doors will be, closed. You have ring the door bell. When the peep hole is opened the rest of the door opens and you enter a world of 100+ years ago but with smiles and wonderful hospitality. We took a city tour with Duran Duran, ask Virginia at reception. WiFi is poor in most rooms but excellent in main breakfast area. Enjoy your stay in safe Cartagena.

Room Tip: Room 1(back of the street) and Room 4

“Cartagena + Quadrifolio”

I spent 4 days with my girlfriend in Cartagena. We actually went during the high season and too be honest it wasn't as bad as I expected. Cartagena is just an amazing place and architectural jewel. Now, the Hotel were we stayed was as awesome as our experience in the city. The Hotel (and I mean: the location, the design, the ambience, the rooms, the jacuzzi, the service and last but not least, the staff!!) were just amazing! You cannot go to a place to Cartagena and stay outside the walled city...it is a must so you can really enjoy the whole experience.

Not only the pick to go to Cartagena was the best for the beginning of the year, but also the Hotel made of this experience something unique. Highly recommended!!

PS. Breakfast at the hotel was just great. William and the staff prepare amazing corn and plantain breads (try them all), the fruits are exquisite, the coffee freshly brewed...ham cheese omelet and the deep fried arepa con huevo are among the best I had.

Room Tip: Room number 7!! at the very top, with views towards the city and direct access to the Jacuzzi on the...

Stayed here for 4 days with my partner - an absolute delight. Room size, finishes, design, atmosphere, all second to none in the area. The service was exceptional. The staff were more than happy to help with any issues and arrangements. The hotel is well located in the old town area, in a quiet street only two blocks walk from the busier restaurant precincts. Probably one of the nicest boutique hotels we have ever stayed in anywhere in the world (and we stay in a lot of them!). Breakfasts (included) were exceptional - anything you asked for they will do - but mostly we asked for something local - this was a fantastic Arepa con heuvos (Arepas with Egg) - a corn-based pancake pocket, filled with mince, salsa and egg, topped with local Aji (tomato/chilli salsa) and Creme Fraiche. Delicious. They even let us come and watch the staff cook this in the kitchen so that we can try to recreate at home. The jacuzzi on the top floor with roof terrace, the two air-conditioned salons, and the shaded pool all add to the luxurious experience that is Hotel Quadrifolio. This hotel well and truly deserves number 1 rating on Trip Advisor for Catagena.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of the hotel would be preferred - I noted there were two suites on the front of th...

“Cool serene oasis”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2011

The old town section of Cartagena is a very interesting place filled with history. We explored the narrow streets, marveled at the architecture, visited the Palace of the Inquisition, and enjoyed seeing an evening wedding at the cathedral. Our Hotel Quadrifolio was a wonderful respite not only from the heat, but it also provided an oasis of calm amidst the hustle and bustle of the old town. The architecture of the hotel is remarkable, which provides stunning contrasts with the furnishings and fittings. The bathroom was luxurious, with an open to the sky shower in the corner. The bed was super comfortable. Returning to the hotel for an afternoon siesta was much looked forward to, and proved to be a real treat. Breakfast was outstanding. Nice quiet street--but close to the activity. Entry and exit to the hotel is carefully controlled by entry through the huge old door, monitored by a staff person. I appreciated the security aspects of this. All in all, we really enjoyed the Quadrifolio and would return in an instant.
