Hotel Castel was a home away from home.
The owners Alexandra and Peter are so gracious and giving of their time.
Breakfast every morning was typical american, it was nice to have coffee and juice after a long night of drinking anejo rum.
The pool was a must every morning before the walk into the centro historico, which only takes about 20 minutes or a 2-minute cab ride which will cost about 3.00. Walking is more fun because you can see all of the sights as you go.
There is a large market just 3 blocks from Casa Castel and across the street from the market is a great pizzeria (La Rucola?).
The evenings at Casa Castel were quiet...only a bit of early morning noise from the kitchen but only because we were in one of the downstairs rooms.
This is a great place with large rooms and wonderful hosts.....stay here and take a walk into the central area it is truly worth being outside of the walled city.
PS-before leaving home print a map of Manga with the Hotel address...the taxi's did not know where it was and it does not have any signs.

My husband and I stayed at Casa Castel for 3 nights in December. The owners Peter and Alex were very welcoming and hospitable. The property is newly renovated, very clean, and tastefully decorated. Common areas are comfortable and relaxing. The B&B is located in Manga, which is more local and not very touristy. That being said, you have to take a cab to go anywhere, especially for good restaurants. Be careful to get all the address info before you leave to go anywhere, as not all cab drivers know where Casa Castel is....

Breakfast is made to order everyday until 10am - it includes coffee, juice, and fruit. Throughout the day, you can order drinks and coffee from the kitchen, which will be charged to your room.

Rooms were very clean and modern with plenty of wardrobe and drawer space. They included air conditioner w/remote, TV w/remote, valuables digital safe, and fresh linens/towels daily. There were limited toiletries so bring your own if you can. There is also wi-fi available for all guests - if you can't connect with their router signal, they have little USB receivers that also connect to the local internet provider.

There are two pools - one small one inside the building behind the registration desk, and a larger one outside the main house. They are both well kept and nicely landscaped.

Although it was nice to stay off the beaten track, I would have liked to be closer to the Old City. You can walk there, but it takes about 25 min. All in all, great value for the money.

This boutique hotel is owned and run by an Italian couple. They make you feel right at home here. They keep the place very clean and are just great people at heart. The hotel and room designs are pretty cool. I'd like to have a home like this someday. Also, you are only a 20-25 minute walk from the Old City or a 4-5 minute cab ride. It can be hard for some cab drivers to find. It's right off of calle 22 in Manga.

the service is excellent, is super clean and the location is wonderful. you are in cartagena but located in a very traditional neighborhood, you can see cartagena from another point of view, you do not feel like a tourist in Manga specially in this hotel.
my only negative coment was the breakfast very small.
