I was in Casa del Curato for a friend's wedding, (in Chiesa Santo Toribio..very close to the hotel..) the hotel has been comfortable and very welcoming, Mrs Gloria and the stuff was very helpful and kind.
I appreciate a lot the homy atmosphere, the comfort.
The hotel has a very nice hall and peaceful bedrooms. The breakfast that Mrs Eufemia prepared was great!

Stayed at hotel for 4 nights. We spoke no spanish and found the reception was very warm and welcoming, and the fron t desk staff made every effort to greet and welcome us in English.
Small and charming, the hotel has great historical architecture. the rooms have a/c which is a blessing. It seems the bathrooms were recently upgraded...all in all the room was very comfortaable. We stayed in the suite (207) upstairs with a long balcony overlooking the charming street.
There is also a small pool - you'll want to endulge after walking around Cartagena all day.,
Breakfast served daily - made to order eggs, bread and fruits.
Staff is very helpful - even the non-English speaking staff made every effort to be of assistance.
All in all this is a terrific value, centrally located in "old city" in walking distance to most historical sites, shopping and dining. I would definitely stay here again!!!

Our room had a beautiful balcony overlooking colonial street/buildings. Wonderful old world house with lots of patina. Gabriel Garcia Marquez' house up the street. Rooms simple, but spacious (on the first floor). Nice and helpful staff. Quite expensive, but worth it for it's absolutely spot on location in this fantastic city. We enjoyed every minute of our one week stay.

Hotel Casa del Curato was a wonderful hotel.

We were in Cartegena for our son's wedding. We occupied about 7 of the hotel's 11 rooms for about a week. In summary, the hotel felt like home, but with a full-time staff who did all of the work, made our stay lovely and worry free, and included a beautiful tropical inside covered courtyard, as well as a nice pool open to the sky. The pool was too small for laps, but nice to hop in and cool off.

Gloria, the manager, and her staff were excellent in service, and very pleasant in attitude.
Gloria speaks fluent English, as well as Spanish. (This is not the case at other supposedly 5-star hotels in Cartegena.) Gloria was most helpful at answering all of our questions regarding sights to see, expected taxi fares, etc..
The woman who cooked and served our breakfast everyday (I will not try to spell her name, because I am not good at Spanish, and would surely get it wrong.) was always friendly, and provided great service. Each day we could ask if we wanted something special, or she provided a different entree each morning, along with fruit, juice, and coffee. She always accomodated my special desires of wanting to drink several cups of coffee in my room before sitting down to breakfast. On the day we had early plans, she prepared our food early (6 am.) before the usual breakfast time of 7-10am., with no compaint, and with her usual smile. Food was fresh, and delicious.
The woman who helped with the food, and cleaning was equally competent and friendly.
The other staff members were also excellent, always helping with our luggage, etc.
When I left, I felt like I was leaving friends.

The common areas of the hotel were very nice, scenic and always clean. We were allowed to use the refrigerator/freezer in the common area when the ones in our rooms were full. We also stored extra food, which we bought for snacks, in the common kitchen. It was always safe there. The staff never made us feel like we were imposing, and even helped us.

Our rooms were very nice. Three of the 2nd floor rooms have exterior balconies, and are very roomy. The a/c and ceiling fans were must haves, and work well. The rooms were cleaned daily -- so thoroughly that even the bedroom floor was scrubbed everyday, even though we never got it dirty.

I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone!
