“Lovely hotel in historical centre of Cartagena”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 April 2012

We stayed in Hotel Aguamarina for 3 nights in March 2012. Hotel's location is great, in the nicest part of Cartagena and therefore one can visit all touristic attractions on foot. Hotel's decor is lovely, we really liked top roof swimming pool and launge area.
The staff are very helpful and eager to please.

The reason why we I gave it 4 out of 5 is because of the breakfast, we ordered it early to our room for two days, due to excursions we booked. It wasn't delivered on any of the days and we had to go downstairs to check it up. The internet access is also patchy and goes on and off during the day.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel to other travellers.

“Pictures are deceiving....I would NOT go back.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 March 2012

First impressions are positive...striking property, friendly staff, elaborate greeting as you arrive, but then....
*Stairs, lots of them!
*No use of air conditioning in the common areas.
*Lots of the amenities in disrepair or outright broken: no shade at the pool because the umbrellas are broken, but then again, so are the chairs and lounges.
*Bedside reading lights are nothing more than the arms affixed to the wall. No lightbulbs, no power, no intention to fix during our stay.
*24-hour Internet access is faulty...an intermittent signal renders it useless much of our stay.
*A city-wide power outage (not the hotelier's fault) could have been mitigated with a generator, but the hotel didn't have one.
*Pool isn't a pool, it's a dunk tank.

While it is conveniently located; and the kitchen, bell and housekeeping staff are very hardworking, at more than $300/night US, it is not worth the price.

“ABSOLUTE total rip off room prices!!! massively overpriced!!!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 February 2012

yes- it`s stylish n boutiquey in a very desirable area of the old city of CARTEGENA. but to pay $337 a nite is total foolishness& downright ignorance, when you can stay across the street in award winning historic 17th century former private villas and 100 times more spacious & majestic with dramatic colonnaded courtytards with luscious swimming pools and rooftop jacuzzis- specifically the sensational CASA de PESTAQUA or EL MARQUES . the swimming pool at HOTEL AQUAMARINA is miniscule . the other 2 hotel have magnificent lap swimming pools -stunning... ELMARQUES has had JOHN LENNON & YOKO & ROBERT DENIRO & the KENNEDY clan as its guests. on line the other 2 stunning hotels are even cheaper deals and exponentially more stunning...

“Lovely place to relax”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

I stayed a week in Cartagena and had booked this hotel just for few days as the Sofitel Santa Marta was fully occupied. I returned after one night in the Sofitel (awful place). This hotel has 5 rooms, with lovely people taking care of you. The location is perfect for Cartagena restaurants and bars. The rooms are very stylish, the roof pool is small but it is open all day and night and it is just amazing to relax.

If I have to criticise one thing it would be the lack of variety in breakfast. But a winner ! You wont regret if you like unique boutique places.

Room Tip: There are two front rooms, very nice but you have street noise. One has open bathroom without ceili...
