“No hassle diving, mediocre equipment”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2011

First I should say I thoroughly enjoyed the time with Diving Planet and, compared to other trips to the Rosario Island, the price point was good too. The dives were easy and enjoyable. There was one divemaster to three divers. The divemaster was unenthused, though. We did go on a 70 foot first dive and a 40 foot second dive -- no issues with that at all. The sights were nothing spectacular. I live in Fort Lauderdale and I think the reefs are nicer here. I definitely agree with that other reviewer that this company might be better suited for beginners. I found the equipment to be mediocre at best. I wish I had brought my own equipment. They did not have my size fin, nor did they a mask that fit well -- none of that seemed to bother those taking the resort course. It was a fun day and I am glad I went with Diving Planet, but then I did not know of another company nor did I have time for a second day of diving. All told, I liked it, but I would have preferred to dive without a leaky mask and fins that were not a size too big.

“Guys, let's put this a little bit into perspective...”

We went diving with Diving Planet twice and it was alright - and I'm very suprised about the kind of comments given here. Let me put it this way:
If you never dove before and want to step beyond your snorkel experience, I'm sure Diving Plant will give you a great introduction into the world of diving. If you are an expereinced diver you will notice that:
- the diving trip is a part of a beach/resort visit for a large group of tourists
- their equipment is just about OK (we had 4 divers in our group which were constantly loosing air from their first stage connections. My regulator was almost falling apart, none of the BCD's was adjusted to the size of the diveres)
- nobody checked your certifications/log books
- your buddy is defined once you are in the water ("and you are here with the guy with the camera")

We went out with a big group of snorkellers and hence the location was pretty much picked for them. The crew was friendly, but not "super extremly helpful" as other people here refer to it.

Again - I'm not intending to blame anybody, but this diving center is certainly not "out of this world". As I simply wanted to dive and not pay for a lunch in some beach resort, I also checked out Cartagena Divers and found what I was looking for. A Dive Center operated by divers for divers.

“You won't regret it”

At the end of August 2010, my girlfriend and I were on holiday in Cartagena and we decided to scuba dive with Diving Planet based on TripAdvisor's recommendation. I don't think there's any way I can oversell this when I say it was one of the best experiences of our lives!

Diving Planet is an excellent operation (seriously, top notch) and Andres' teaching style (and English) are excellent. We gladly would have gone on more dives if we were staying longer. Diving Planet truly made our Cartagena experience unforgettable! Keep it up guys!

“Great diving”

We went diving with Diving Planet in July 2010. We are both Advanced OW so did two tank dives. The divers are knowledgeable and our guide pointed out several sea life that we would have missed. We were allowed to go deeper than others and for longer which was nice. They all speak great English which makes it much easier than trying to get by with my basic Spanish. The boat and the gears were all in good condition, and they managed to find fins for my boyfriend's size 13 feet.

Although it's not going to be the best dive ever in terms of what you see, there are a lot of reef fish and interesting coral formations to keep you entertained. The water is warm enough for diving without wetsuit and relatively calm which made the experience much easier.

All in all highly recommended, especially since you get to chill out on the Rosario Islands for a bit as well.

“On of the best experience I ever had”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 November 2009

I always wanted to dive and never managed to do it.. i'm very glad I waited all this time and did it in cartagena with Diving Planet. We did the open water diving course. It took as 3 days to do all the theory... (every day from 3-5 pm)... Once we passed the test we went to Islas del Rosario. Couple of hours in the pool to get familiar with all the equipment and then straight tpo the water... and was AMAZING. The guys were so professional. Andres was our instructor and he was very carefull that every single excercise was done in the right way. We had 4 dives. From those, 3 were to do excercises (a dive is about 45 min... excercise..10m) and 1 to enjoy. Diving Planet recommends you to stay in Islas del Rosario one night so you can progress with the pool excersices very fast (otherwise you need to go back to cartagena and then the next day back to islas del rosario). I RECOMMEND IT TOO!.. you can stay in a quite cheap place were food is quite nice.. make sure you take mosquito repelent... hope you have a great time too!
