I have never given an evaluation so low although I learned some lessons from this hotel. During our stay (early December 2011) we encountered some extremely loud neighbors. About 5-6 people moved into the room next to ours one night and they started to yell at each other. I contacted the front desk several times and the noise went on. I finally asked the front desk whether they could find another quieter room for us to sleep for the night. The answer was yes but we have to pack all of our belongings and move everything completely. Considering that it was midnight and would take hours to pack all the stuffs, I asked if we could go sleep in the other room for the night and do the packing the very first thing next morning. The answer was that we then have to make payment for both rooms that night because we were “double booking”, while the next door neighbors were still yelling and screaming. Out of curiosity my husband took the phone and made the same inquiry. To our surprise the Chinese-speaking front desk person communicated better with my husband in English (I’m a native Chinese speaker) and quickly assigned a temporary room for us. It’s a bit sad but true that sometimes people cannot or would not communicate in their native language.
During the move between the rooms we left our Kindle Fire E-reading pad behind. We didn’t realize this until we already left the hotel. We called the hotel and asked about it, the answer was that “there was no report (that such thing was found)”. It’s only about $200’s worth. However we thought that the hotel’s reputation is far more important. Although it was us who left our belongings behind so practically we’re at fault.
Are we going to go back to Shenyang again? Sure! The city is just attractive and full of energy. Are we going to stay at Shenyang’s Kempinski again? Absolutely not.
