the Trader Hotel in Shenyang, a subsidiary of Shangri-La Hotels, is a very good choice for the stay in Shenyang. the staff is very friendly, breakfast has everything you need, the rooms are comfortable and full equiped. the bar is not really calm, but this makes it not worse. my choice in Shenyang.
The Traders Hotel in Shenyang is a very interesting hotel offering a lot of possibilities due to it's location. The hotel is located in the heart of Shenyang. Downtown area with a lot of shopping malls. Very interesting for women, if they like to go shopping in some international brand stores.
Around the hotel there are also some supermarkets if you need anything to eat or drink. The prices of the mini bar in the hotel are quite expensive like every hotel in the world. Furthermore you have some nice bars, retaurants and massage in walkway distance. The Wanda Plaza offers 2 stories of international restaurants (5 minutes to walk) and a laundry, if you do not want to wash your clothes in the hotel. Opposite the hotel you can find a Korean and Hong Kong restaurant in the basement of the shopping mall. Acceptable with reasonable prices.
For the night amusement you can have several bars in walking distance from the hotel, like Stroller's, Sunny Night Club, Lenbach (German), Club 97, etc. Also Xi Ta Korean Town is well known for it's nightlife, restaurants and bars. Korean Town is just 1 km away from the hotel. It's recommended to take a taxi to this area.
The hotel rooms are quite comfortable, even you can see, that the hotel is coming to a certain age. The hotel is now more than 10 years or older. Personally I have been there almost 10 years ago. The rooms are comfortable and it is recommended to take a room to the west side of the hotel. This area is less noisy. The bathroom is clean and equipped with a bathing tub (incl. a shower). The hair dryer is located in a drawer in the room. TV's are old fashioned, no flat screen. All rooms come with air condition. The beds are quite hard. All rooms are furthermore equipped with a couch and a table. You can find a water cooker in the room, mini bar, safe, etc.
The hotel staff at least is very nice and helpful. Especially at the front desk. They help you with all questions, requirements and demands. The staff in the Traders Cafe (Breakfast) in the 4th floor and the restaurant in the 2nd floor are very slow and not very friendly. Asking for coffee could take a long time until you get it. The staff cares more about cleaning the tables than the guests for their requirements.
All in all the hotel is very nice and got a good price-performance-ratio from my point of view. The location is good to explore Shenyang, because there is a subway station close by, which brings you to some of the sightseeing points in Shenyang. At least a hotel which can be recommended even for a long term stay.
i stayed here for 2 nights and was surprised to find a modern hotel room in this city. Not only is it modern, but it is spacious. Furthermore, i was placed on the trader's floor and have access to the traders lounge. Food and beverage is free from 530-730 and my breakfast was also included.
Its definetly not the best hotel i stayed in but if i compare apples to apples, this should be one of the best in the city
This is a hotel that is very well located in Shenyang, as it is in the middle of the shopping area. Their service is very good as it is usually with the Shangri-la Group properties.
The room may look a bit old, but everything was working very well and you have a few TV international channels. Breakfast was quite good with many choices, so you can survive without having to eat anymore Chinese food as for lunch and dinner.
Internet as in other Shangri-la properties was free.
Near the Hotel there is a Wal-Mart supermarket and a McDonalds that becomes a kind of food relief after you spent so many days in China. In fact you are surronded by many Shopping malls, but we didn't have the time to visit them.
Overall an excellent choice for business or pleasure trip to Shenyang.
