I spent two weeks here on a university trip. My colleagues have over 20 years experience of staying in Shenyang. This is perhaps the only destination we each choose now.
I am the one who feasted on the tea eggs every morning.
I was so grateful to Simon the doorman for organising my taxi, writing a note back and giving me advice on where to go at night. One evening I visited a variety performance and dance, a surreal experience. He also told me where to find the best duck in the city. Simon is the sort of guy I would like to find one day and invite to my wedding - a gem.
The two sisters in the bar always had a smile and shared good tea experiences.
The rooms and spa cannot be explained with words.
Excellent service and the best breakfast for any taste.
Simon, please get in touch !
Its the best bet in Shenyang for business travellers. Its a regular hotel for me whenever I visit Shenyang. My stays have been for business and hence efficient check-in and out are a must. They staff does exactly that, they are very prompt and courteous.
The breakfast buffet is a vary wide spread and lavish.
Have not had a chance for my lunch or dinner and hence have no idea.
Rooms are good and very clean. Drinks are a little pricey.
Overall an excellent place to stay.
My wife and I stayed on the Executive Club Floor at the hotel for five nights. We had an excellent stay! The staff at the Club were very helpful and pleasant. Their English skills were great (much better than our non-existent Chinese). Our special thanks to Zoe, Nicole, Serena and Becky! We also received great service from Simon, the head bellman. He arranged for a city tour for us and it was both a great tour and a great value. We enjoyed being near the park as it is a great place to walk. Also, the Zhaoling Tomb (which is there) is very impressive! We will definitely stay at the Crowne Plaza when we are next in Shenyang.
The Crowne Plaza Shenyang Parkview is a safe and solid choice for North American/European travelers who are visiting Shenyang It is an overall well-run and clean property with above average (by Chinese travel standards in my personal 5 years of traveling to China experiences) amenities, food and service. The rooms are good-sized by western standards and have very comfortable bedding and pillows. Flat-screen TV's are nice although the picture quality is just OK, free web access in room and wifi in lobby are all appreciated. Complimentary bottled water (to make up for the non-potable water in the bathroom) is appreciated as is the in-room coffee and tea. The mini-bar is (as always) expensive and never cold enough for my personal tastes. There is a large Tesco about 100m adjacent to the hotel for large water bottles or snacks.
Alcala - the western restaurant is quite good - again based on what one can expect. Good choices and variety, the cooks are genuinely helpful and everything is fresh and well-cared for. The traditional Japanese restaurant and fine-dining Chinese on the 2nd floor were really, quite good and recommended.
The challenge with the property is that of the area in general - the lack of multi-lingual service staff. As a non-Chinese speaking visitor, you will have to work a bit harder to communicate and make your wishes known - but once you do the staff go out of their way to deliver. I would recommend this property based on 3 different visits - all consistent.
BTW, the location is quite convenient to the Old Shopping street and Imperial Palace areas - have the bellman put you in a cab (about $2 in traffic) and make sure you have one of the location cards to get back! Enjoy your trip to Shenyang!
