“luxury roomy business hotel”

I was very impressed with the value of this hotel! The price was not very expensive (search for deals) and it was certainly well worth it. It is in no way an experience of traditional China! Purely Western 5 Star experience. But that is nice every once in a while, even as a tourist. The rooms were very large with all the amenities ...and the service was quick and friendly.

It is also a short distance to an old part of town which has been renovated, with a canal and old building turned into restaurants and shops. In this way it was conveniantly located even though it was far from other things.

All in all a great hotel.

Room Tip: There are different sides of the building with different views. One side had construction going on o...

“Best choice not only for short period”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 December 2011

I started to come in China in 2010 and I've visited several places from south to north of China. In my wander for job I had several opportunity to slept in different Hotels and the Kempinski hotel in Wuxi is a very luxury business hotel.
It can offers two solutions, an apartment for long period and hotel room for short period. I tried both solutions and all rooms are very large, confortable, elegant and clean.
In the apartment the kichen is small but complete with all things if you want to cook something.

The room service is very excellent, efficient and friendly; all the hotel staff is careful of your needs, friendly and very helpful.

The breakfast is a real spectacle for both eyes and the palate.
The range of international and local dishes are wide and well cooked.
In the lobby, Paulaner bar could be a welcome spot for those seeking western food and german beer.

Keep in mind it is a little off the beaten path and you will need to take a taxi to almost anywhere you would want to go. Not so far from the hotel, 15 min walking distance, you can find a nice and lively bar and restaurant street.

I highly recommend this hotel!

“pleasent hotel with excellent service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 November 2011

The Kempinski Wuxi is a business hotel a little outside downtown. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms a spacious and comfortable in the typical Kempinski standard.
The main restaurant has changing buffet offers, we enjoyed a good Malay buffet. The Breakfast buffet also offers many international choices.

A nice and lively bar and restaurant street is within 15 min walking distance, Tai Hu Lake is 20 min by taxi.

“Great hotel, but bar closes early”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2011

It's a great hotel and relatively new. Very clean, good and professional service, most of the staff speak English well. Nice room, big bathroom with separate shower and bathtub, toilet also separate. Only downside for me was that the hotel bar already closes at 11pm. There is another bar "Paulaner" but when I was there the live music there was quite loud and the band only average. So, when you just like to have a drink and good talk with colleagues it's not the place to go. Luckily they flexible enough to serve us in the lobby out of the bar. The breakfast buffet leaves no wishes open. really good!

“Excellent Hotel in most ways”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 June 2011

I stayed here for 4 nights. Three of those nights the AC quit in the middle of the night. That along with a less than ideal bed were the only downsides.

I was on the 52 floor and the view on the one day the air was reasonably clear was quite nice, at night it was spectacular.

The bed was a bit on the hard side but less so than at other hotels at which I have stayed in Asia.

The room was very comfortable with a nice L shaped couch, large bathroom, large shower and comfortable bath tub. The vanity is a little small but that is not an issue I think when traveling alone. A couple sharing might have a difficult time.

There is no desk chair, or at least there was none in my room. I found that odd. There was a hassock to sit on and that was it.

The restaurants in the hotel were quite good. We ate at the German restaurant and had a very good western style meal. The breakfast and dinner buffet's were excellent. The range of foods was wide and interesting (sauteed bullfrog anyone?) and the food was fresh. An oddity: they only fill the coffee cups half way. No idea why. When we asked they fill it all the way they did.

the common areas in the hotel are well appointed and the lobby was quite lush.

The service was uncommonly friendly and helpful.

I do recommend the hotel. Keep in mind it is a little off the beaten path and you will need to take a taxi to almost anywhere you would want to go as very little is within walking distance.
