“Great interior, nice and refreshing surroundings”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 March 2011

In Feb 2011, we celebrated our 2nd anniversary at this hotel. We stayed in their spa suite, which was amazingly roomy and cozy. We have a big balcony with a bath tub (but we didn't use). The view is wide and green in early spring.

Hotel staff are all very polite. Food was good. We played the snooker for free.

One thing that disappointed us is their hot-springs. Too small too few, guests are not even required to clean their body before entering!!! And the result was: we saw a foam of fatty oil on the water surface!!!!!

Oh gee!!!

“Hot Springs Paradise outside the city”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2011

The Intercontinental in Huizhou is a newly opened resort, featuring a golf course and Hot Springs. Although the location is terrible if you're looking to do anything outside of the resort and in the city, it does seem like a paradise in the middle of nowhere once you get there; just be prepared for a bumpy road there as the roads are quite rocky!

The rooms are fantastically designed and decorated. There is a large TV which can be swung around to be watched either on the bed or on the couch, free ethernet internet, a balcony and a spacious bathroom. However, the bathroom has a very interesting design where the shutters separating the bathroom from the beds cannot be completely closed, making it potentially awkward for those not travelling as a couple.

As a tourist, I found the dinner buffet first-class for China standards when it came to Western foods. There were wood-fired pizzas (which I highly recommend), an assortment of cold cuts and a wide range of Chinese foods. For the breakfast, there were Hash Browns and Breakfast Sausages which all went down a treat.

The services the Hotel provides are fantastic and mostly free. We used the Snooker tables and Table Tennis where both equipment and room hire did not cost anything.

While I can't recommend this Hotel to new tourists to China due to its remote location and lack of transportation options, it is definitely recommended for a romantic getaway, families, tour groups and tourists who are able to hire/access their own car. It is a fantastic place once you get there.

“Way too far and Not worth the money”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2010

We booked our stay online thru the hotel website and requested for travel direction 4 days in advance. Eventhough the hotel said they would reply within 24 hours, I never saw one email from them. The website said there is shuttle from train station, but we saw none at the station and had to take a taxi which cost 200 RMB. The "resort" was very far from Huizhou city and the connecting roads were very run down.

The hotel lobby and the rooms look good, but there were leaking on the corridors. The shower also had serious leakage problem. After a 10 min shower, the entire bathroom floor had water. The sound proof also was not great as we heard people talking and walking in the middle of the night. (Also can hear next door 's shower).

The SPA was very expensive compare to other 5 stars chain hotel/resort. The SPA building also looked a bit old. Pool was not too attractive either.

When we asked the staff about shuttle or bus back into town, they simply replied "we never have shuttle or bus. You can book an Audi or Benz for 400-500RMB".

The Chinese restaurant was below average. Breakfast was reasonable, I would rank it as a 5 out of 10.
