It was the first time we visited Santiago. This hotel is literally right next to the subway/metro station. It's very convenient if you are the explorer type and don't mind getting around using the subway. Across the street of the hotel have a couple of decent shopping malls and little stores/cafes. One block from the hotel is a large supermarket (Lider). Very convenient location. However, it's not very close to all the tourist attractions, which are mostly located in the Santiago downtown area. It was fine for us as it's only about US$1 for one way subway ticket to go anywhere...
The hotel itself is a bit small. Lobby is small. Reception area is small. It's also a bit dated. It still has excellent service though - like, they still have nightly turn down service that most hotels don't have.... or give you a shoe cloth to clean your shoes... which I rarely see in hotels nowadays. Hotel breakfast is okay. They have a few hot items (eggs, pancakes, sausages, bacon), some fruits (strawberries will not be replaced once it's emptied... which other fruits will be replaced), toasts, some ham, juice, tea, coffee, etc.
We do not speak spanish and fortunately that is 1 staff on duty that can speak OK english, and we were able to communicate with her well.
Initially they charge us extra when we checked out, but after checking the bill vs. our original estimates, they were able to fix the charge.
Overall, I would recommend this hotel to anyone - but please expect the dated decor...
