This hotel is located on the inland edge of the bustling and congested Arica and is relatively quiet and very comfortable. My wife and I enjoyed our stay there, but had to wonder what it must have been like when it was new since the gardens are a little wild and the buildings a little worse for wear. Nevertheless, our room was clean, large, and comfortable. The breakfast was included with the room, but it was not very healthy - a lot of sweets. The dinner was better. This is a good location from which to visit San Miguel de Azapa Archaeological Museum with its petroglyphs and ancient mummies as well as birds such as Peruvian Sheartail, downtown Arica with its very colorful and busy center, the Morro de Arica with its giant Christ statue and military museum, plus the beautiful beaches and the Lluta River mouth with its huge flocks of gulls, terns and other birds. This is a good stop also before venturing up to the altiplano of Lauca National Park and the Salar de Surire National Monument. We enjoyed the sounds of the Croaking Ground Dove and the Pacific Dove as well as numerous Hummingbirds and conebills in the hotel's garden. The staff was nice and the room prices negotiable.

Good infrastructure but badly kept. The service is poor and the breakfast nasty. The constant –really incessant!– birds noise from 7 am to 8 pm (maybe turtledoves, but it cannot be said singing after its 12-hour distress) does not allow even a little siesta. However, the hotel has excellent location if one’s destination is exclusively the Lake Chungará.

We visited Arica as part of our trip to the Atacama desert in northern Chile, before continuing to Peru. The hotel was nice, the service pretty good and both the room and the common areas very clean and comfortable (a little aged, tough). Nevertheless, the main strength of this hotel in our opinion was the good disposition of the owners (always around) to solve any trouble we got as well as to have a little chat or share a glass of wine. The other hotel's plus was the gorgeous garden and pool they have in this fantastic oasis-town in the middle of the world's driest desert . Our trip to the highlands and Andes mountains lakes was memorable too. In summary, we totally recommend this hotel and the city if you are looking for a special vacation time.

We passed by Arica last september while traveling from Bolivia to Chile, we visited the Chungara lake and the Surire salt lake and hotspring in the Andes, my wife is a botanist and she was really taken with all the rare species we found. The whole region is a lost paradise of wild nature. It was an unforgettable experience. We had the warmest of welcomes at the hotel, it's very cozy and family style, I'd say not luxurious but tastefully decorated. It has a huge and amazing garden considering it's in the middle of the driest desert of the world. We were surprised to find out the owners are always around so we had the chance of a nice chat with them. We strongly recommend this hotel.
