“Just FIne”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 July 2007

I stayed at the Goldiana Angkor Hotel when I was in Siem Reap largely because the guest houses that had been recommended to me were all booked up during my short side trip there and because I was staying at the Goldiana in Phnom Penh and so it was easy to book both together. I would rate the GAH as "just fine." The property was very clean, the staff friendly and helpful, my room was large and comfortable, and the breakfast buffet was vast (although largely catering to the Japanese and Korean breakfast preferences). For the price paid it was a good value. The location isn't great, it isn't bad...just along the main road from the airport into the town. It's not easy walking distance to the restaurant/bar district, but all one has to do is walk out to the main road and half a dozen Moto drivers descend to offer you a lift. I spent almost no time in the hotel anyway, since one does not go to Siem Reap to be in a hotel.

“A plain vanilla disappointment”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2006

We stayed in te Goldiana for 5 days. It caters mostly to Korean and Chinese group tours. Hence the lobby tends to be smoky or dead. When we ate in the 200 seat dinning room we were usually the only customers and many menu items were not available. The breakfast buffet is below average. The rooms were clean but some of the switches didn't work and it was impossible to take a shower without creating a lake in the bathroom. The hotel is located some distance from central Siem Riep on National Route 6. There is little of interest nor any good restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. Their internet facilities are poor and expensive. However the staff is very pleasent and helpful when they are able to understand you.

“Disappointed stay”

I had a very unhappy stay in this hotel. The front offcie staff was unwilling to help me even with minor request. The rooms are with mosquitoes esp in the toilet. Breakfast is not well cooked, tasteless type. If you are choosing do look around the neighbouring hotels which is much better. Frequent tripping of electricity in the room throughout the night. Very disturbing sleep.

“very luxurious!”

We visited Cambodia last November and Siem Reap is experiencing a building boom - hotels are appearing everywhere and the Goldiana Angkor is one of the new ones. It was a wonderful hotel where we felt like royalty for under $100 a night. Quite often when breakfast is included, it is a disappointment, but here there was a huge choice offering both "American" and Asian cuisine.
Originally I had tried, and failed, to book a hotel more centrally located in Siem Reap so was a bit dubious about this hotel's location, however it was only a 20-minute walk (or 5 mins on a moto) into town and the streets appeared very safe. Outside the hotel there are many drivers willing to take you up to the temple complex at Angkor, failing that the hotel will arrange a car for you.
One afternoon we decided to "stay in" and relax by the pool and had the luxury of having the entire pool to ourselves!
So, to sum up, very high quality and a joy to stay at.
